I strongly agree with this topic. There should definately be more strongholds per world, but with a minimum distance between them. Not everyone decides to play the map near the spawn point and it would be a shame if they could never stumble upon a stronghold.
While I agree with all the other players that think there should be more than one stronghold per world, maybe make one stronghold per 'map' as in, the maps that we can craft in game.
As far as not playing the map near the spawn point... I wish I could play away from spawn point. My bed NEVER resets my spawn point though and I don't want to risk dying far from spawn and losing all my loot. :sad.gif:
Strongholds should be hard to find. They should be few, far between and hidden under ground. They are the ultimate goal for the more adventurous players and it would be just sad if it was possiblle to find one after only a few hours of gameplay.
The Stronghold was supposed to be generated once in a world because it was also garantied to be created not too far away from your spawn. There were never a need to explore an infinite world. An adventurer exploring cave systems would eventually find it without going outside the boundaries of a map (1024x1024 blocks or 4069 chunks).
Adding more Strongholds is not a bad idea though. In SMP a world expand a lot and players travel further. It would be nice if there was a (slim) chance to find a new stronghold, no matter how far away from your spawn you go.
guys i made a server for me and my friends to go explore the world and my friend told me he found ruins we quickly rushed over and found the stronghold shortly after we got killed by silverfish the only treasure we got paper and books
I don't think so... 3 strongholds in an infinite world is no better than 1:
1 divided by infinite equals zero
3 divided by infinite equals zero as well...
thus, in an AVARAGE minecraft map, you'll have ZERO strongholds (meaning: very hard, if not impossible to find) as long as they're not changed to one every 500 chunks or something like that
Maps are no longer infinite, as of 1.8.

As of 1.8 Pre-release, the Far Lands no longer exist, and the playable world stops at 30,000,000 meters from X/Z 0.
So, three for now, unlimited in 1.9? If I'm reading that correctly, it sounds perfect.
Now, only "adjusting the strength" of the void fog, on the other hand, isn't enough. That **** needs to be gone.
Yea, one per 2500 blocks would be like nothing but strongholds. To put it in perspective, that would be one per 5x5x100 block section.
Perhaps something like one per 250 chunks would work better. :wink.gif:
Possibly, Jeb_ hasn't actually said that they will unlimited in 1.9.
3 per world is still better than 1 per world though.
Maybe like 5 a world? It's not much, but still better?
Support Coloured beds!
