I think it should be in the game, but I really don't care because it doesn't help me at all. It just makes less things visible, and I am usually underground or really high. Even on max render distance it doesn't render everywhere.
Notch shouldn't have to cater to **** computers. I hope he doesn't add it back in, really; you're the kind of person I don't want to play with in multiplayer. :smile.gif:
That's the kind of thing that people with no minecraft problems say to people who have lots of minecraft problems.
I guarantee you would be whining if you couldn't play game that you paid $21 dollars for just because Notch removed a feature that could easily be put back in place.
I have a Dell Inspiron (lol) that I got new last year. I believe the model is 1545. 2gb of ram, dual core Pentium(R) ant 240ghz per core. However, my graphics card is an integrated graphics card (not sure which model) which is pure garbage.
I bought this PC because I needed it and it was cheap. I don't game on my PC, nor will I aside from Minecraft.

If you wanted guarantees you shouldn't have bought a beta game.
I'm really annoyed at the people who are saying "get a new computer". And to the guy who said "you are the kind of guy who I never want play SMP with", I respond with a polite **** You. That is no way to treat anyone; you look down upon him because his computer isn't worth as much cash as yours? What a elitist *****.
He's not even whining; this is a legitimate concern. The key was useful for a LOT of the playerbase. There was absolutely no reason to remove the key. I needed it myself.
the toggle fog key needs to go back in. if you say get a new computer... no you are dumb. nobody is gonna go out and speand hundreds of dollars because notch removed a feature, and they shouldnt have to. so those of you who said that just go away. those of you who say go into the options menu obviously dont realize how annoying it is to have to pause the game every 5 minutes. its not that its that hard to open the menu. its that its annoying to have to open it every 5 minutes to do something that we should be able to do without even pausing the game, so while your answer makes more sense you are still wrong. this is a terrible thing for the game so the key needs to be added back. as soon as someone makes the mod to add it back i will use it but it shouldnt be needed. notch should just put it back in the game.
I really miss the fog toggle key, i have already been looking into how to bind a key to it, but i am a noob at this... the game is almost unplayable for me =/
You'll have to understand that developers who are creating a game for lots of players can't just put features in in order to make the game playable for people who have a computer that doesn't meet the system requirements of the game.
its not that we are asking them to put in something new for the bad computers. its that the game was playable on the computers we have and we are asking them not to make changes that make it unplayable. so the computers did "meet the system requirements of the game" and i see no reason to change that
So people who play this game and lag to an extreme detriment to both themselves and other players who interact with them are less of a threat then a person complains about them? I love your logic here. Personally I think Notch should just return the toggle and change it's default location to "Y" rather then having it jammed right up to the WASD keys. This really would be easy to do and it's a good quick fix for people who want to play this game on a toaster.(Apparently a lot of people play games with the same device they used to heat bread, its getting absurd.)
I have a 6 year old computer and minecraft struggles to play on it, but I barley play pc games besides Minecraft so buying a new computer isn't a priority for me if i can still watch videos, check my email, and browse the web fine. . You have to remember not everyone is fortunate enough to buy a 600 dollar computer every 3 years.

Except that people with low FPS don't effect you at all. A lagging player would, but unfortunately for your argument having low FPS doesnt make you lag. It makes it harder to aim, time movements correctly, and makes the game much less aethetically pleasing for the person lagging. No one else. Unless you are doing some kind of out-of-this-world marathon and are depending on the other guy to jump these things asap, grab a flag... forget it. You should understand this by now.
Meanwhile, trolls complaining about it reduce the quality of the forums for everyone.
Oh, and my toaster doesn't cost half a thousand dollars.
Upon entering this conversation, and this forum, I thought there would be some (fairly) mature people on this board. Turns out I was wrong. Even mentioning the purchase of a new computer to compensate for a low quality game such as MineCraft is purely ridiculous.
I understand that, yes, MineCraft is a very demanding game (although it's so low quality), but people shouldn't be forced to conform to one game. For example: some people play XBox all day, such as BlackOps, but have a low-end PC to run MineCraft on for when they get bored, so basically you're telling that person that he must purchase a 400-500 dollar computer for a single game.
This would be bad enough if it was an intrusive key such as "d" but for God's sake it's the letter "f" what does it matter if it's bound to a certain option? For children on this board to get defensive over someone objecting to Notch's decision to take that function out is purely ridiculous.
Point being:
People shouldn't have to conform to games, games should conform to (the majority) of people, and considering (most) people have low-end computers, there should be an option for said people to make the game more enjoyable.
So:
Every one of you kids who are saying "buy a new computer" are obviously stuck up pricks.
*Side note:*
I myself own a fairly good computer, so this key has nothing to do with my personal needs, this is just a silly thread for obvious reasons.
**Side note:**
Why did Notch take it out anyways? That makes absolutely no sense to me. He could have at least changed the key to an even LESS intrusive key such as "l" or "k". I just don't understand it.

FPS lag is not the same as connection lag. When I lag, it's only on my end since it's a framerate dip, not anything to do with my connection.

I completely agree. And if Notch was adding something, like content, that rised the system requirements, I'd have no choice but to accept it. However, removing an existing function that helped lower end PCs run the game better isn't exactly the same. Especially when he does this for no obvious reason.
I think.
Maybe you should click this?
Notch should put the fog toggle button back in game.

Still looking for an answer to this.

But I agree. Why was the toggle key removed in the first place? D'oh! Silly Notch.
Some people don't have money unlike little kids who beg their parents for crap like you.
