Pay attention, notch was working on things all weekend, and was getting very stressed about it. They are willing to work on weekends, but it is perfectly reasonable to avoid putting yourself in the situation where you need to.

He has some other project to work on this week. We don't know what it is, or why it has to be this week, but it was enough to make him work on the weekend to finish what he could.
The majority shareholder has control over a company period. Notch is the head of everything. The CEO works for him unless they formed some sort of joint contract. He doesn't need to work.

Notch doesn't do **** ever since Minecraft became successful and he became rich. He doesn't do **** for Minecraft anymore. he probably spends 5% of his time on Minecraft related things, the other 95% he's ****ing around playing other games or something.
he should at least go to the gym or something if he's not working on MC and get some productive activity in his life..
Theres bugs and then there are hidden, uncomon, game cripling problems and it would sound like they may have found one or two of those. Relax people. Go play a different game. Im happy to wait months.

Mojang is becoming a little team of Peter Molyneux's aren't they? Promising you something amazing and delivering crap.
The (big) difference is that Mojang fully intends to deliver all that it has promised except for the release dates. They're not lying to our faces. They probably just underestimated what an update like this would demand from them. They're not cutting features in response to their errant estimates. They're delaying feature releases.

People usually don't pay for a beta game. Black Ops is the exception to this rule.
Public betas are usually not developer betas. Betas are usually the point at which the game is officially stable (that is, doesn't crash when you attempt to run it and do some very basic things like walking, jumping, looking around) and the objective is to add the content in whatever form you can do so that is not completely broken. From there, it's a recursive process of testing, adding, removing, and polishing. Public betas like big companies do for free are essentially "deltas," where the game is pretty much pinned down.
Besides, many people that own Minecraft didn't pay for it in the Beta stage. They paid in the Alpha stage.
