You are splitting hairs at this point, as if aiming means something different that probably. The point is this, the date was never set as an absolute hard date.
You used the word "probably", which is a word that Jeb never used and it means something very different from what Jeb originally posted... To say the update is "probably" coming out on the 8th would be to say that the most likely scenario is that it is released on the 8th. This is NOT what Jeb wrote AT ALL.
Given your last sentence we might be trying to say the same thing, but "probably" was not the right word to use.

Whatever helps you sleep at night... The point is, as stated earlier -- NO HARD DATE WAS SET. I'm not going to bother with you anymore, hopefully someone else in here actually has the brainpower to understand the point I am trying to make...
Funny how they released a trailer today only for Jeb to say that they need more testing :dry.gif:
I think the above quoted post has some serious thought to it. It does make sense, why post a widely spread video trailer of it and then the next day in just a tweet message say that it might be delayed?
And perhaps the PAX version had gameplay aspects that would have spoiled peoples perceptions of it? Perhaps there are elements of the game that were not done to their satisfaction? Demoable =/= playable.
Yeah, people's perceptions aren't getting spoiled at all now...
I can definitely understand not wanting to release terrible bugs. I can understand delays in getting features created. I even understand that technically I can still play if I wanted to.
What I can't understand is...what are they waiting for? Why did they hype this 'beta update' as some sort of expansion pack? Why did they bundle 100 features when they could have just released them one at a time? They could release 'chargable bows' right now, or "sprinting." Why are they acting like this is a major update to a shipped product, when in reality it's a late stage beta and we're too the point that daily builds should probably be at least playable.
I'm a little worried that MineCon will be both the official release and also the End of Life for this product, since people would rather be working on "Project Rex Kwon Do."
I'm itching to play SMP again. While it's possible to keep your old world, there are great reasons not to. My SMP server is going to make a new map. That means EVERYTHING that happens in the current map is 'throw-away' stuff. I've been experimenting and testing and 'doodling' for 2 months now waiting for PAX. Now each new day is really frustrating.
I'd be happy with the build version they handed the people who made the trailer.
I wonder if the delay and the large size of the update is to be nice to the mod makers. It would really suck to lose compatibility every day. I really don't know how that works with the obfuscated code though. How much work is it to port from release to release, even when there's not much different?
So, I guess I'll wait. I don't really have another option. I just think that they are getting to a point where unexplained delays are more of a problem than bugs in the software.

If English isn't your first language I apologize, it's just that the wording of your first post made it sound like you were making a pretty bold false statement.
I bet Jeb learned his lesson to never mention a release date again :-p
Another thing that makes me angry is the lack of work ethic I'm sure no one likes working on weekends, but people often times have to and there attitude saying that they just plain won't do it disgusts me.

I just have **** poor grammar skills, I'm not ashamed to admit it. I didn't intend to imply that those were is absolute words, recounted from memory.

Its really easy to make assertions about whatthey should be doing from your computer chair. The fact is, you don't know the reasoning behind their decisions. You don't know what problems the current version of the game has. You don't know what their plans are. You don't know how much effort is being put into it.
Part of the reason they stopped giving daily or near-daily updates was to help modders out. it is a pain to have to update your mod on a daily basis. This latest update is longer than is nessecary for that, but it is the reasoning behind the general slowdown of updates in beta.
And I see plenty of reason the adventure update was meant for a single release. For one, if they had actually gotten all of the terrain generation done in the first update, it creates a single time in which people have to expand their map or create a new one. Two updates already weakens that, as we will have to do it twice, but frequent updates would be unmanageable.
Other features of the update are somewhat linked. Sprinting is liked with hunger. Hugner is linked with food stacking. combat revisions are dependant on a changed healing mechanic. Food sources are dependant on demand. Many features work together to produce a proper experience.
Its like telling people you want them to explore, but there is only a small change to what you will find. now we have added a new feature, so you have to explore some more, and we'll do that another dozen times, creating highly fragmeneted maps, and weakeneing the exploration overall. Why explore now if tomorrow you can also find strongholds? Why explore tomorrow if the day after there will be rivers?
The update is not a dozen unrelated features. It is a set of features that work together. Even with the split update many parts will feel incomplete. We will have vilalges without villagers, we won't have full biomes, we'll have experience without skills. more updates would have just made this issue worse.
Another thing that makes me angry is the lack of work ethic I'm sure no one likes working on weekends, but people often times have to and there attitude saying that they just plain won't do it disgusts me.
Pay attention, notch was working on things all weekend, and was getting very stressed about it. They are willing to work on weekends, but it is perfectly reasonable to avoid putting yourself in the situation where you need to.

I wouldn't go as far as to say trolling.. Maybe testing the waters, to see the outrage or the reaction to a delay?

You mean estimates of early September for 1.8 is early. It sounds right on time to me.
