Looks grim to get a release out on 8th. We need more testing, one day is not enough. And we never release on fridays... I'll keep you posted
Because updates tend to have bugs, and if you release on friday, you end up bugfixing all weekend. So, they decided to stop releaseing updates on friday.

This is what I don't understand; this is Beta, who cares about the bugs, that's what we're for! Beta means we, the users, are part of their tests for bugs! JUST GIVE IT TO US! They're treating this game like a final release, not the proper beta that it is. Give us broken content at a phenomenal pace!
You never know how severe the undiscovered bug(s) is, what can wait a weekend to fix, and waht will be "OMG URGENT MUST FIX NAOW!" And trust me, as a devloper, you really don't want to go home for the weekend, only to discover that the update is corrupting data. That is not fun for anyone involved.
I agree with the guy above: What are the beta players here for? Thats right, bugtesting :smile.gif:
Is i'm "the guy above" I gotta say one more thing. If potentially game-breaking bugs existed, they wouldn't have been able to debut the game at PAX. There will be bugs anyway, who cares if we find a few more! (it just means we'll be able to help them find/fix them faster! (possibly by whining lol))
They have added a lot of stuff since PAX, in areas of the code that could be game breaking. And at PAX, the game did not receive anywhere near the stress test it will when we get our hands on it.
This definitely sucks. I think they shouldn't have even set a date for release if they weren't sure they could get everything done by then. Kind of pointless to get people excited only to disappoint them lol.
The whiners can keep whining and look up in the dictionary what beta means. :dry.gif:
Even if I agree with you, it's also a forum management issue. Getting a major bug in the game and not seeing it fixed in several days, because the devs are drinking beer and having sex, can be a major detriment to the community.

Truly, what new stuff have they added? Other than possibly the SMP server thingie, i suppose?

Would you be playing the game anyway? I know a wooden boatload of people who aren't playing until the release of 1.8, myself included. If there is a major bug (i doubt, but who knows (when was the last game-breaking bug?)), the worst that would happen is you stop playing: the exact same thing you were doing before.
Either way, the community wins.
Oh, and I kinda had a feeling this was going to happen. I always told everyone to err on the side of caution (EDIT: not caution exactly, maybe pessimism?), the release date Jeb posted was non-committal.
Here's hoping for a *late* Monday update! :happy.gif: I'm sure well have it by Wednesday for sure!

By "it" he means the update.

May the force be without you.
