I'll say it again. The bugs will still be there during full release. They will be updating the game after full release and those updates will come with new bugs.
The longer it takes, the better it'll come out. I remember that some video games constantly delayed just so they could get them to work right with minimum bugs possible (and extra content).
If we could just give them a chance to fix things up around, then the next update will be awesome till 1.9 comes. So while that's coming, I'm just preparing myself for the next update. I don't mind if it wouldn't meet the deadline, cause I'm happy with the latest version for now.
If I were them, or even Jeb, I wouldn't make an official date until I believe it's time to announce in advance. Not in days or weeks, at least around a month or two at least.
wrong, your view of a beta fits for the "open betas" on mmos, where the only reason to name it beta is the lack of content and unstable servers. but there are a lot more kind of betas out there, for example the preorder beta in red orchestra 2 is pretty unstable and buggy, even though the game will be released next week.
besides, people who bought minecraft back in alpha knew there would be bugs and changes, the reason why they paid for it was to pay the development of the game, since it is made by an indie developer who needs (well, needed it back then) the cash to go on with the game.
I'm wrong? It sounds like we're both right. The term "beta" differs in the video game industry, was my point. I didn't mean to provide an absolutely binary set of definitions. But what I've come to understand is that the original use of "beta" in video game development did not mean that it was a game nearly finished.
People who bought Minecraft in beta have been told little different from those whom bought in alpha. It has bugs and there will be changes.

Make note: I generally avoid being insulting. If I sound insulting, I'm probably joking.
Way to many optimist on this forum...
If you become a pessimist like me, then you CAN'T get disappointed..
besides I'll be in the middle east when this gets released, have you seen me complain once yet? Nope..
No, the last time they did that it was a total disaster.
Everyone needs to remember that there is basically 1 person working on minecraft, and it has been that way for a while. Expect things to take longer and include less.
But he linked it after Jeb_'s tweet. So either he hadn't seen jeb_'s tweet/talked to him today. Or he knows something jeb_ didn't a couple of hours before/made a decision that changes when they can release. Or he is trolling us. Based on past experience all are possible.

EDIT: I see that people beat me to it.

We haven't had a Seecret Friday Update since last September. That's what happened to them.
