Its been a while since the last finite torch whine thread. It makes me feel nostalgic. It's sort of too bad this always caused so much complaining, I always kind of liked the idea.
If torches burn out and lanterns are added, I really really hope that these lanterns won't need any redstone circuit to work. Imagine the pain in the ass to keep the light on in a cave or mine... OMG.
I played with the finite torches mod.
it really wasnt that much harder to just use flint and steel to relight things.
i dont get the big complaint.
that being said, I think I recall notch saying something about lanterns in the last month or two, but i dont think its related to the current update, but rather evidence he might still be working out the kinks
perhaps he just set it aside until more of the game is made, thinking a premature finite torches would make the game more of a hassle now than it will be in the future (perhaps you can buy lanterns from an npc?)
I don't use torches, i use buckets of lava, then i make infinate lava wholes all around. or sometimes i gather a flit and steal and some netherrack and set the netherrack on fire.
what im trying to say is that torches are not the only source of light. find another method
