I've been really excited about the new upcoming NPC (non-playable character) villages/towns that're being added in 1.8. However, the main problem is that Notch wasn't given out any information about them. The only we have is a picture. A bloody picture. C'mon, Notch, you can do better than that! :dry.gif:
Anyway, what I'm hoping the NPC villages will contain (or the content it'll have, will include, but'll not be limited to:
- Dozens of NPC skins, each representing a type of male of female, such as a "lumberjack", or a "miner", etc. Also, there'll be different skins that'll represent a normal "resident" or "villager", which in the end will just be a normal villager.
- A medieval type theme. Minecraft obviously has a medieval theme; swords, bows, torches and pickaxes. Hence the reason I think it should be a medieval theme. This should effect everything, the design of buildings, the skins, etc. This should also effect what the NPC's actions, e.g. they won't have any "modern" technology. (Mobile devices, televisions, and electronic, 21st century technology).
If you have any suggestions, suggest it below! Also, discuss others suggestions.
im my opinion I hope npc villages don't suck.
hrer me out, mojang has been working on npcs for 1month.
millenaire however has been wip since late alpha and the
developer still needs to iron out things. which begs the question can
mojang meet up to or go beond another developers work in
1/6 of the time? (mabey less im too tired to do the math)
I am excited about many things in 1.8, but NPC villages I've wanted maybe the most. I am hoping there are more advanced villages like small villages to large towns. (not city)

think about it dude, a team of programmers vs 1 mod developer, who do you think will be able to do it faster and better?
I hope at least they're complicated enough to fix their houses if they get broken. That probably won't happen though. I would be fine if NPCs were humans or pigmen, but if they're Endermen... *shudder*. I'm excited to see how trading will work and how many different roles the NPCs can have.
I certainly hope the npc's are human-ish, or mix of multiple races (i.e. human, pigmen, elves, ect...). Because if they are pigmen, or something silly, I wouldn't be able to take then serious, and end up drawing skins and modding them human.

Im sorry but jeb said that his smithy (blacksmith) keeps
burning down the town. Advanced things like rebuilding may have to
come later.(but this is mojang so don't give your hopes up:))
I'm hoping for an in-depth, detailed code that allows for interaction. I would love to converse with NPCs and perhaps fulfill duties and quests for items.
I also wouldn't mind an economy system incorporated into Singleplayer w/ the NPC Villages. Gives for new opportunities and experiences.

Yeah, like I said I don't really expect them to be that complex. It would be way cool if they were, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up (or give them up).

I hope they AREN'T human so that I DON'T take them seriously.
Seeing humans act as if they have simple AI? Disappointing.
Seeing Pigmen act as if they have simple AI? Makes sense, also hilarious.
(But if they're Pigmen and have amazing AI, it may get a little creepy.)
im hoping that the NPCs will actually move around work, mine, sell items.. and not just stand around like retards
Exactly! You see, with Millenire, all the did was walk around saying, "I'll be right there sir!", or "Thanks for trading with us! Have a good day!". You see, what I'm seeking is advanced AI for the NPCs.

I'll be the first to download that mod! D:
I for one don't like to be the only human in Minecraft, feels strange. If you're a human, and there's skeletons and zombies, WHERE ARE ALL THE OTHER HUMANS?
I'm thinking it might be a bit like Terraria, so you can found your own village if you want to, but an NPC can build their own if you don't. I like the idea of being able to command a raid on another village with a few military NPCs as a way of controlling their numbers. I can also rest assured, no matter what, that the villages will be expanded upon by Mojang in the future due to their size and prominence in the game. This update won't be the last time they are worked upon, methinks.

Notch already said that you would be able to trade with them :biggrin.gif:

In SMP. If not, the skeletons and zombies WERE humans.
I would hope for advanced AI too for the NPCs. They should have a well thought-out civilization where there are guards that roam around and archers that can shoot better than skeletons. Maybe you can also develop and affiliation with one village, and become enemies with another. It would be nice for villages to evolve slowly, so that when you want to go with war with another village it will really be a war. What could be even more better is if you can hire mercenaries or bring allied villagers to aid you in your travels. That way you would have squads for battling and someone can watch your back for creepers while you're mining :biggrin.gif:
In SMP. If not, the skeletons and zombies WERE humans.
And I (among other like minded people who have bad internet) shouldn't feel obligated to play with other people on laggy, buggy, and mod-ridden servers to get the presence of humans in the game.

but I thing the millenaire is done by a team
