I'm just saying that people are making a bigger deal about 1.8 than it will really be and probably won't live up to what everyone on the forums say it will be.
Just take a look at the Halloween Update and you will know what I mean.
Minecraft 1.8 already has a river system/oceans, a new mob, VILLAGES! More complex dungeons...
Those things alone make it an amazing update. They're adding everything they've wanted to add for months! This will not only live up to what we expect it to be but, go farther, considering there is still so many secrets they've kept from us.
:sleep.gif: Uh hello? Have you been keeping up to date on any 1.8 stuff? It's a hell of a frak ton bigger than Halloween! (I mean, other than the addition of the Nether) NPCs! Complicated new dungeons! Endermen! New lighting! Ravines! Rivers! Hunger! Sprinting! The list goes on and on, it will be awesome!
If it is a letdown, it won't be for lack of content.
But I'm sure people will complain about the new features, for example, their passive mob grinders being ineffectual, or them having to work for their food and health. "Sprinting ruined my life, because it sent me into lava!" "I ran out of animals in my chunk, and now I'm doomed! I have to delete my world!" "Endermen removed one of my blocks!"

Probably it won't be the first time, but then again we are still in Beta so keep that in mind. I just don't think there are going to be as many features as people think (but who am I to say?) .

I'm pretty sure he means the content to come is probably never going to live up to the hype. I know it sounds like when you hear NPC villages that it's going to be awesome no matter what, but what if it ends up paling in comparison to Millenaire, what if the NPC's do nothing and are boring as hell? Maybe some of the updates could sound good in theory, but they end up not living to the standards we have set. We as people have been holding the adventure update highly and consider it to be game changing, but what if it turns out just to be a some fun new ideas that don't meet those standards? Like the Nether for example. At first I thought "a different dimension to explore is like adding double the content to minecraft". Sadly the novelty wore off when I finally got to try it for a while and now the Nether seems just like some boring biome with a few new blocks and mobs(which don't even drop any new items for that matter). Now, I'm not trying to bash the Nether, but honestly the Nether sounds better in theory than the actual concept.
I agree that the game is not going to have double the content, nor will it be a completely different game, but I am happy with all of the features that have been announced. In my opinion, the revamped terrain generator and animal persistence are much better implementations than the Nether ever could be. Forcing players to explore past their spawn point for all of the game's content, forcing players to control their animal populations to retain the renewable nature of their resources. It will give the survival and exploration aspects of the game much more depth, whereas the Nether was only ever a commodity for resources and travel.
I don't know if you guys knew this, but a lot of the new features are gonna be optional, for example the hunger bar, and you can change the difficulty to no spawn endermen. Stop thinking negatively of the update, just think about all the good things.

Yeah maybe you should stop playing and leave the forums...

Gimmicktastic.
OP, Halloween wasn't a letdown for everyone. I quite enjoyed that update, even if it clearly didn't include everything Notch wanted.
This next update won't be a letdown for me either, because several incredible features are confirmed to be in the game. They could give me the update right now with only the features that they've completed and I'd still love it. The fact that it isn't out yet means that they're adding even more though.

Really he is just saying it might not live up to our expectations, or our expectations have grown too high. It is a possiblity, and yes I believe like most others that it is a very unlikely possiblity, but it still is a considerable factor open for discussion. He isn't hating on the update or Notch last time I checked, so no need to bite his head off about it.

No, I am saying if you got a problem with game,
Stop playing, and stop crying about 1.8

I'm getting better! It used to be 53%!
