You're all arguing about whether or not notches new game "Prelude of the Chambered" looks like minecraft.
FACT: they are not the same.
Fact: they have similar features.
FACT: that's not what this topics about; it is about adding a new object into minecraft that has physics which was inspired by "Prelude of the Chambered".
Now that that's down... I can see it as a good idea. I can't say it's the same code but pushing a boulder in PotC looks similar to the effect of pushing boats in minecraft. This may even add a trap aspect.
It would be easy for notch to add boulders to minecraft. By why would he? Pushing boulders, like in that game, are generally a puzzle element. They served as a puzzle in pokemon. They are a puzzle in Notch's new game. That type of puzzle does not make sense for minecraft.
The room in this new game looks like one on Minecraft. The blocks look recycled from Minecraft. And when the blocks break, it looks exactly like if they broke on Minecraft.
This game probably has a lot of things recycled from Minecraft, so really, if Notch can put boulders in it, he could put them in Minecraft.
You can only break some blocks, only the ones that are cracked, and he didn't recycle the textures from minecraft, I watched him texture them from scratch. Get it thought your head, this is a whole new game, not minecraft.
I know you've heard this a bunch by now, but it must be said. The ONLY similarity between this game and Minecraft is the Voxel Engine, and removable game structures. He already new how to do that kind of a game, so he is using it in the contest. This does NOT mean he will take features from this game and put them in Minecraft, especially because we already have "boulders." They're called stone. You can even push them if you use pistons.
Terraria is a lot like Minecraft. Does that mean Notch could easily get Minecraft blocks in Terraria? Of course not.
These are totally different games. For all you know, it could be an entirely different engine ffs! Maybe it's a lot harder in Minecraft than in that game to put in!
It sure is amazing how ignorant people can be. He was coding a completely different game for a contest in which they only have 48 hours to create a game. Here's a link to the completed project: https://s3.amazonaws.com/ld48/index.html
...Are you serious? Clearly just because they look similar, they must have almost the same code!
You know why they look similar? THEY'RE THE SAME PROGRAMMER. Of course they look similar! If an artist is making a painting, and he's not done, and he goes off and paints a boulder or something, and the rest of that painting looks somewhat similar to the other painting, will the boulder necessarily be in the first painting? It's a bad analogy, but you get my point.

The style is Pixel Art. Minecraft Is Pixel Art, Same Style. Not same game, but it would be cool if boulders were in

(Now all he has to do is add some zubats..oshit.)
Or you could trash it with various pictures. It's your choice.
Lol, he actually did add bats :blink.gif: .
Probably, since Terraria is C#, and not Java.
it's possible to grow pumpkins in a cube LOL. they've done it with watermelons in Japan.

Build, destroy, explode. For science.
