When I first played Minecraft with the Millenaire mod, it just felt like robots walking around with a script. I hope that interactions with NPC will be more complex than.. talking to robots. Also, in Millenaire, the villagers didn't care if you destroyed their village, or killed a villagers. I hope that 1. When the villagers die, they stay dead, 2. They get mad if you steal from them, hurt them, or destroy a building, 3. If allied, they protect you from monsters rather than watch you get mauled, 4. They say more to you than just: I'm tired, or nothing ever happens here, 5. They actually sleep in beds, and 6. actually interact with each other (such as, they trade with each other rather than just you). My main question is, how complex do you think Notch will make NPC villages in Minecraft 1.8?

i think that they will just wonder around and respond to certain circumstances a certain way. there is no way that they will be talking... maybe the enderman will be the builders.

I shoot my arrows in the air sometimes saying ay-oh, creeper's KO'd
I think villagers will be like zombie pigmen if you attack one they all go after you. Although, I don't really know how or if there will be any other features like upgrading the town or trading with the npcs.
I doubt that the villages will be very complex at all, that has never been the style of minecraft. NPCs will most likely not talk, i have never thought of the mobs to be intelligent. Also, this picture shows that Enderman may be the villagers.
I don't hope the villages will be more complex than millinare, I hope they won't endlessly grow exponentially with no way of stopping them, eventually lagging your game and making it unplayable.
I actually wouldn't have a problem if the npc's just wandered around the village. No trading, talking, sleeping, etc. I wouldn't mind if they did those things but then again I wouldn't care at all if they didn't.

If that's true, then there would be no point to villages being helped b/c when you're scared of the villagers, why go to them?
I doubt if they will actually build, the villages seem to be pre-built. Unless the NPCs are Endermen.
They will probably become hostile if prevoked, but I doubt they are "tameable", like wolves.
Instead of voice acting, there will probably just be tables of information.
Notch suggested a table where they display an item you must retrieve for them.
The "Smithy" would have a similar table where you repair tools and armor, perhaps?
endermen are supposed to be very rare because they are supposedly dropping0-2 diamonds so unless villages were very very very rare i think other things will live in villages
this might be a good idea mAke 2thick 10up cobble wall around village

Enderman do not drop diamonds.
They are quite rare compared to other mobs.
They are not the villagers.

Villages have 0 solid information on their use. Speculation from Mojang hinted at being able to trade (not to what extent or how), Quests (unknown what style), and possibly a blacksmith to repair damaged tools (part of trade).
Beyond this, we know jack-squat of what they WILL add or WILL do yet.
I hope its somewhat complex to where they will give you some sort of quest or something. Also I think Jeb might be wanting the npcs to talk but I'm not sure.

you are right, it would be cool if they made a village (what's already generated) and that's it!
but trades sounds good.
I hope the NPC villages are slightly complex such as they protect you if you help them or hurt you if you hurt them... I've seen vids and the NPC's don't look too complicated :dry.gif:
Can't wait for the enderman though! :biggrin.gif:

My mod idea. It's about introducing genetics into minecraft.
Thanks
Their AI will not be anything amazing.

But I hope these villages will be easier to find than those on Millénaire. For God sake, I don't find any... XD
