Don't flame me, I didn't do anything to you. My ideas are not stupid. If ocean is gonna be >50% of the map it needs more content. Nutch problebly knows this though
Yes you ****ing did do something to me. You compelled me to read your idiotic rambling posts riddled with misspellings and butchered grammar, sometimes forcing me to read the same sentence twice just to figure out what the hell you were talking about.
Notch, whose name you clearly don't know how to spell, or think you're the cleverest **** on the internet for constantly spelling wrong, has been quoted saying that the new biome generation code is capable of creating large biomes, and that he can randomly create huge islands in huger oceans. However, "it doesn't play well". And Notch is more interested in making a game that's FUN than going out of his way to sully it with stupid features only a few people want.
Notch considered sharks, but they "would be too hard to deal with for most players" so the idea was scrapped. Learn your history before you open up your mouth.
Big boats aren't exactly in high demand. If you're upset about the fact that you can't carry enough items with you when you go sailing on your failboat, either download or make a mod that changes it or keep crying. If you're constantly traveling, then understand the risks and drawbacks of playing the game that way instead of asking the developer to make the game easier for you.
"not conducive to industry" is something I don't even understand. There isn't any ****ing industry in Minecraft.
Your ideas are stupid.
The thing about the original post that irks me the most is that you kept using the phrase "we need", or even just the word "we". WE don't need anything. YOU do. Stop confusing the two.
I wasn't flaming you, I was criticizing you. Harshly. And you don't like being told that you're wrong. Well, you are.
EDIT: to the people above pointing out his avatar being trolls, I noticed it from the very beginning and chose to ignore it on the benefit of the doubt. If everyone's avatar was directly related to the demeanor in which they post, then the boards would make a lot less sense.
I am 100% sure notch is going to do something to make oceans more exciting. I know him enough after foreseeing most of his updates since 1.3
But for now, let's all shut up.
I'm just going to stay out of most of the debate here, it's becoming infuriating to think about.
My opinion on a minecraft style breathing system would by something involving pumplins, glass, slimeballs, redstone, and/or iron. Some combination of one or more of those things might do it.
Glass helmet?
with pumpkin maybe?
maybe work slimeballs in as a filter?
I think glass covered pumpkins magically letting you breath fits miecrafts flavor well enough.

It's things like this that are good suggestions. Not "DURR LET ME BREATHE UNDERWATER IM TIRED OF DROWNIN NURTCH". I think any sort of underwater apparatus should take advantage of pumpkins as well. And it shouldn't have to make any sense by real world standards, like a scuba tank made out of iron ingots would, or that reed breathing tube OP suggested.
You are retarted cause even if netch said that, I already said an idea of a breathing tube made from a column of 3 reeds/sugar canes
You are being a total ****.
Anyways, you are the retard. It's Notch. Not netch.
Just because you have an idea, and someone says it won't happen, doesn't mean that that person is retarded. :dry.gif:
Is there gonna be content anywone hear anything? I think that it would be necessary if we are gonna get a big ocean, which I hate btw and already said in my petition earlier, we gonna need more stuff.
Has there been any word on content for oceans.
Firslty they are boring looking, maybe some coral or some sea weeds and kelp could help.
Secondly they are tedious to travel and not conducive to industry. Maybe new bigger boats could help that have chests built into them to transport mats and stuff between continents like how columbus did the santa maria.
Thirdly there is only one dege mob in the whole ocean. silly squids. We need sharks or something else to spice up the wata or it will be a boring journey to the other continents.
Fourthly there is no added mats or value to more ocean. We need new items to collect that we can find in the ocean. Maybe clams and oysters that sometimes surprise us with pearls or maybe we could find hidden chests in the ocean next to sunken ruins.
Fifthly because we need to explore the deep oceans we need items to be able to see better and to breathe better. I proprose a system like a scuba gear that you attach to yo head and it lets you breathe.
So we need content and i haven't heard a peep from nutch about this. If you heard from netch about content post here and we can start a compulsion of the list of confirmed sea content and also this thread may convince natch to add more sea content so we don't pillage his wedding when we find out there was none. Thanks nitch.
I would like scuba gear, bigger oceans, more ocean mobs, and ocean specific materials. But in all your threads I have posted in I hate every post you have ever made. Really people. Look at his other threads. I hate literally all his posts. They make my eyes bleed. Also.

Instead of a block, make coral an underwater (stationary) mob. So it would sit there not moving, but wouldn't take up space for the water block. Then when you attacked it (not dug it) it would drop an item.
Now, it would be weird for seaweed to be a mob instead of a block, but you can make a case for coral, or oysters.
Stationary mob is an oxymoron, seeing that "MOB" is short for "MOBILE."

He means using similar code, though. It's difficult with MC's engine to make a block that water can pass through, since water is a block type itself. The problem with this solution, however, would be how much it'd raise the number of rendered entities. It'd probably get pretty laggy on a lot of computers whenever you got near a large body of water.
Well without grammar, we wouldn't be here typing away now would we? In fact your posts are hard to read, BECAUSE of your grammar. NOTCH can't lock it, he does not "own" this forum. Just take the dang time to proofread your post and people will take you more seriously and as a serious contributor, not some silly 11 year old(not that there's anything wrong with that.)
ON TOPIC:
Well if you read my post and see other peoples post. A reed will not suffice or make sense(this is Minecraft though...) when 50 blocks under water... by the time the air travels even 25 meters(blocks) it'll have become unbreathable as you are rebreathing in and out the same air in that 25 meters(not exact numbers, but a rough estimate). Thank you Myth Busters and science :biggrin.gif:.
My own idea for this, would be to craft a glass block and pumpkin together. This makes a sealed helmet that uses air magically supplied by some unknown spirit of the nether. :wink.gif: something like that.
Very good, I like your thinking. Maybe pumpkins will become an important block then. Also, maybe when he/she was saying Netch they were thinking of Morrowind? xD
I gotta be honest though, why the hell would you use a pumpkin as an underwater helmet? :/
Instead of just... a better material?
Pumpkins should only be used as jack'o'lanterns, helmets that make endermen and creepers passive, and dungeon markers by growing above underground dungeons. Oh you should be able to make orange dye out of them too, and maybe use them in cooking in a rare recipe in some later update. I wouldn't be opposed to being able to use them as buckets for water and milk if you haven't converted them to a helmet or jack'o'lantern yet.

something completly random, probobly consisting of the word epic at least one. Examples, "Epicness in a can" "Wall o' epic" "Epic episode III, the return of Epic" etc.
I've always thought that maybe a snorkel would just be a good idea, and it would extend the time you were underwater for. That's kind of what I was expecting ever since Notch announced it, and it seems like it'd be an easy thing to just plunk in there compared to things like pistons or something else. I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been worked on, actually (as far as I'm aware).

There is no point in extending the time you can be underwater without creating a reason to be underwater longer. Nothing in the game right now suggests that a longer underwater tiem is needed, so it has not been added yet.
Well many people that I play with like to create underwater structures, so that's what I was thinking when I mentioned that the snorkel would be a good idea. I also tend to go after squid quite often too, and it gets a bit tough to keep track of them deep underwater and going up for air a lot.

It is an oxymoron, yet there is still a such thing, contextually speaking.

Needy..Needy...Needy.
I think he's intentionally doing it wrong. Esp. since people started calling him out on it.

Guess it's just all in how ya play, I suppose.
