I'm getting sick & tired of all these endermen threads pushing out all other threads. WHY DO PEOPLE WORRY? ARE YOU GUYS REALLY THIS STUPID?? Endermen this, endermen that. Where are the mods when we need em?
If mojang DO make it so endermen mess up player constructions, however unlikely, they will realize their mistake pretty soon after release and fix it.
At the very least there will be some checkbox or difficulty setting for those whishing to play with this kind of challenge. :wink.gif:
true, only thing that worries me a little is them picking up dirt and replacing it around my house, that'd screw up my landscaping a little, but i'm sure it can't be that bad
Why does it matter? The Endermen will most likely only be able to pick up one block at a time, so if one of them happens to get too close to your house it will only leave a one block hole in the wall which is easily fixable.
Its part of the update cycle
1.First people are all in an uproar about
2.Then people start to calm down but start ***** about the bugs from the previous update and ***** about the mods not working
3.Then there is a relative calm on the forum where it doesn't really have as much activity
4.An uproar of speculation is started from a random vague tweet from the dev. team
5.Bitching about the speculated update
6.Someone on the dev. team releases a picture of a feature from the upcoming update
7.More speculation
8.Someone on the dev. team releases another picture of a feature from the upcoming update with a vague explanation of what it is
9.Another forum uproar about the new update which mostly consists of bitching about some of the aspects of the update
10.Another calm on the forum
11.Parts 6 - 10 repeated several times
12.The update date of release is estimated on the forum
13.When the date comes the update hasn't been released
14.People ***** about this
15.Part 6 - 10 repeated several times again
16.The update is release finally
17.The whole thing starts again

YES, someone stands up against this stupidity. Honestly I don't think Notch is that stupid. I imagine Endermen just carrying blocks that you don't normally build with. (dirt, gravel, sand, etc...). But yeah, better yet have them not grab blocks that were placed by a person.
People need to stop whining about endermen, when they really know nothing about them. There is barely any information about them! We know that they can move blocks, and the whole looking at them thing. We don't know how they spawn, what blcoks they can move, etc. People are acting like endermen are going to absolutely demolish everything they build.
lol, yeah right. Post something and hope people will wade through dozens of pages and reply to your post.
I never read anything but the OP in threads like that.
Forcing all discussion related to one update to take place in one thread is a horrible idea and a vastly inferior solution to avoid flooding of this forum. Give us a "incoming updates discussion" forum instead.
There is currently nothing in the game that distinguishes between player-placed and natural blocks.
I don't know that it does, but I don't know that it doesn't either. I just saying that I seriously doubt mojang will release endermen to ruin player designs for those enjoying the building aspect of survival mode. I'm positive that there will be some kind of protection or choice for these players.
I remember reading that certain mods do, especially anti-griefing ones, and if I remember correctly mojang did say they may want to implement certain anti-griefing features in the future. Though this is only from memory, so don't quote me on it. It might have been the early interview with notch, or a tweet, but perhaps more likely the Q&A with Jeb.
If I should venture a guess I'd say a natural in-game protection we have to incorporate in our designs is more likely to be the protective solution, much the same way we build lips on our walls to prevent spiders fom climbing over, or moats/pit traps outside our walls to catch creepers.
As someone else pointed out, they may perhaps only be able to move dirt and sand. Perhaps they will leave logs, wood, cobble and smooth stone alone?
Another idea I kind of like is that the endermen doesn't pick up/remove blocks, but rather have an unlimited supply of blocks which they use to cover up unnatural holes, like creeper blast holes.
Or maybe endermen have their own "villages" and only move blocks within this area.
Either way, the bottom line is; I deem it highly unlikely that Mojang will release NPC griefers onto the general minecraft player population.

The majority of things built in Minecraft serve no real purpose or accomplish any in tangible in-game goal, so who cares?

Leadership Organizer, Original Leader, and Occasional Diplomatof P.A.E.C.Tthat'd make the coding relatively easy. The memory demands for tracking player changes would be fairly heavy duty.
In the recent endermen photo, the endermen weren't holding any player/npc created materials. (cobblestone or mossy cobblestone)
Considering that 99.7% of my enjoyment in Minecraft stems from building nice buildings and towns and stuff like that, I do care. Dearly.
I don't want my next Minecraft experience to turn into me roaming the world we built looking for displaced blocks, thank you very much.
PlanetSide 2 Megathread because why not?

...yeah, just like they did with creepers.
I'm still trying to get Mojang to let us disable creeper explosions.
