There people... Here we have another possibility! Isn't that great?^^
I'm not saying; "Noooo, I don't want it to be that way! So It won't be like that! They won't pick up blocks! Herpediderp!"
I'm just saying, people should not jump to conclusions too fast...
EDIT:
...and threat them like a set in stone fact...
Erm so we're aren't suppose to speculate? Really no one is calling them fact, but speculating is part of the fun of finding out what it is. :huh.gif:
There's a difference between cleaning up a mess and fighting a monster.
He is being extremely and blatantly contradictory... don't make it complicated with trying to piece together some sort of defense. The purpose of mobs is danger, plain and simple.
I don't really like how their arms stick out like that. I mean, Minecraft is made of blocks, yes, but does it hurt to add a bit of curving to them? It'd make those guys a lot better. Right now it just looks like they're disgusted by the blocks.
I know. Just one joint would make it look a lot better: the fact that their arms are long makes it look even more ridiculous...
Am I the only one who thinks maybe the Endermen are filling in that hole that the water's running into? And maybe Notch set up that area specifically so there'd be water running into a hole, so the Endermen would go get sand to fill it in?
So my guess is that when they find a low spot, perhaps with water flowing into it and stopping due to being at the lowest point (instead of running out or meeting still water), they go get blocks like those in the area and fill in the hole.
What if they are anti-creepers? Creepers blow up craters, and endermen fill it back in. That would make Orvus happy, right?
Notice how the Endermen are carrying blocks. Maybe they're a sentient species, building a village. Notch did say there would me NPC villages, he never specified whether they were human or not.
Perhaps these "slendermen" as people are calling them are going to be the villagers instead of pigmen?
personally I would like to have both species, but they build and live in radically different ways. Pigmen should be industrious and expansive, whereas the "Slendermen" are more in tune with nature, using natural blocks for houses.
Seeing as these "Slendermen" are dark colored and even look like creatures of the night, they could possibly be allied with hostile mobs?
i would love to see pigmen vs. "slendermen" wars, with "slendermen" having an army of hostile mobs while the pigmen are fewer in number but use armor and weapons.
1. Stay away from light. They would be attracted to it, but they would hover around the edge of the light. Eventually, with lone torches, they would walk in and break the torch. They wouldn't do this with large groups of torches or glowstone or lanterns (when ever they come out).
2. They should not build villages, just weird piles of crap and nonsensical temples. Also, making half built nether portals would be awesome.
3. Completely silent. No noise.
4. Work to dig you out of places. Not de-constructing your entire house, just if you dig yourself in a hole, they would come and expose you and stuff like that. Or they try to box you in.
5. When you look at them, they stop moving and just STARE at you, with those cold dead eyes. They do this into windows of your house as well.

Muncher is right, listen to him, he can cure the blind and make paraplegics walk.

Maybe they come out at night and build the village. Maybe they could wander off and find where you live and start breaking your house.
If they are related to NPC villages perhaps they are a nocturnal kind. What I'm saying is they are in their houses sleeping during the day (probably in beds!) and go wander around at night. The reason there are no buildings in this picture is unknown, maybe Notch nuked the village.
My guess is that they are the new "scary mob" and that they only pick up blocks like sand, dirt, gravel, clay, and snow, basically lighter materials that can be broken with a shovel
that would be awesome in a really really annoying way.

how bout Fiends or nightmen (always sunny in philly FTW)

Look what I made!
Nightmen does have fewer syllables.

That's their official name. If Notch didn't want them to be called Doug he wouldn't have named them Doug.
