Why does everyone insist that US English should be the norm, anyway? The game wasn't even made in the US.
Maybe it's because the US population is about 3 times larger than that of Canada and the UK combined? Or how a majority of the native-born English speakers in the world are from the US and speak that particular dialect?
Then why not just remove US English and leave Canadian English if they're so similar?
Stop being so nationalistically discriminatory. Canada and the UK are countries just like the US is, and we deserve to have our languages represented equally.
Maybe it's because US English is already fully and correctly supported?
Honestly though, barring a few spelling changes, slang, pronunciation, and colloquialisms the differences in UK, Canadian, and US English are negligible when it comes to Minecraft. Outside of the End Poem, the only instances that I can see spelling being an issue would be grey/gray and ax/axe.

But does that mean that other english dialects should be filled with jokes? no.
Hey I have a idea: make the singleplayer button with a joke on it in the US language, let's see if they will complain or just say "relax guys it's just a joke".
I do kind of wish that if they were going to make fun of Canadians, they can at least make fun of other places, like maybe for England, they can add "guv'ner' to certain places...
But does that mean that other english dialects should be filled with jokes? no.

The other dialects would be already fully and correctly supported if they didn't got jokes like that in them.
I have no problem with the us language button being a joke. We could make it say "Closed borders mode" or something..

I'm just giving reasons why others would argue such a thing. I never stated they were my own beliefs nor that I believe that there should be jokes in the "translations" for the other English dialects.
You also missed my point which was, excluding the End Poem, Minecraft only has two words that tend to vary across the dialects. They are grey/gray and ax/axe. It's just copy and paste with a few changes. It shouldn't even be up for translation because of this or, at the most, only have the End Poem up for it.
It's not that we can't take the joke; it's that jokes don't belong here.
Lets say I'm playing a Japanese game that was being translated and localized. If it made jokes about ice, moose, lumberjacks, camping and beavers, or added "eh?" to the end of things, I wouldn't play it.
It's just like translating to Chinese and adding "ching chong" at the end of things, or making jokes about how every meal is rice and everyone loves math or something. I honestly don't know what stereotypes and racist jokes exist against Chinese people.
“Bigger the population, the more minorities. Don’t step on the toes of the dog lovers, the cat lovers, doctors, lawyers, merchants, chiefs, Mormons, Baptists, Unitarians, second-generation Chinese, Swedes, Italians, Germans, Texans, Brooklynites, Irishmen, people from Oregon or Mexico. The people in this book, this play, this TV serial are not meant to represent any actual painters, cartographers, mechanics anywhere. The bigger your market, Montag, the less you handle controversy, remember that!… Authors, full of evil thoughts, lock up your typewriters. They did.”
Canadian English is regular english, same as UK. "OH NO COLOURS!"
Even Canadians laugh at this, why so serious?

Not a language. A dialect.

Why do people take things so seriously?
Because when you got language options in a game you don't put jokes in real dialects.
Why not? I doubt anyone who doesn't take a creeper offensively would take jokes in dialects offensively.
Because in a game that is over 5,000,000 copies sold, professionalism count.
