Back in 1.8, when clouds were placed in the top layer, it was a tragic day. No longer could you feel so high in the sky above the clouds, but rather stuck in the ground no matter where you go. Now that the top layer has been moved up 128 blocks, not only could you live above the clouds again, but you could live so high you would take a nap while walking down your staircase back to the ground. I lost all hope that the clouds would be moved back down making Minecraft lose an important element of the game(unless you're a human groundhog :biggrin.gif: ) , but this is even better. I can finally build the Wonder Tower from Batman Arkham City I've always dreamed of building. Thanks Mojang!
note: Then I mention a group of people in my posts, i mean the majority of information i have seen from that group, and my statement may not be accurate for every individual in that group.
The low cloud height annoys me; intersecting with any non-air block should "break" them. Suddenly having my screen fog up with clouds when I'm going up an enclosed staircase/ladder is annoying as hell, but at least I don't have to worry about it unless I build mega high towers.
No. I believe it depends on whether you've got Fancy or Fast graphics toggled. It's been this way for as long as I can remember.
Oh, that explains why. I never have it on fancy unless I'm testing out a new snapshot with fresh options(untampered). On new snapshots I never fly around before changing options.
Can someone please clarify for me: Is Anvil now the new standard world gen? Are mountains now generated above 128 blocks also now? I hope not... The idea was to be able to build taller then the highest mountains, that's the sense I've got at least.
It is nice to build above them again. <3

Normally they are flat right? Only using Optifine do they usually become 3D?

Fancy = 3D.
