Even if they could respawn, They do a wopping 9 hearts of damage to a player without armor.. Killing them would be no easy deal.
Yeah, that's true but I imagine it would be fairly easy to build a trap to kill them in safely. I've read here that they don't seem to take falling damage, but fire or lava might still work. I assume they don't drown. Either way you could trap them in a pit or something.
I know, but this could change the dynamic a lot. It's rare for a zombie to drop 1 ingot, whereas a golem always drops several ingots.
Well in that case, from the minecraft wiki:
If an Iron Golem is killed that belonged to a village, it will eventually respawn.
This way you don't waste any iron making it, and if you were to make some type of mob trap (falling or lava) it could be killed and drop iron infinitely.
These iron golems are somewhat rare occurrences, so you cannot effectively farm them.
It takes 36 iron ingots to make a single iron golem, and they only drop up to five.
Besides, it's much more effective to slaughter zombies for iron.
Are you sure they can't be effectively farmed? Do you have any reasoning behind your belief? Any testing or other evidence?
Depending on how quickly they will respawn in villages, and on what they're vulnerable to, it's certainly not hard to envision people building contraptions to easily farm iron ingots without having to leave the comfort and safety of the village.
So my question is: Can you farm iron golems for infinite iron now?
it's false.
Remember kids, when the mod crashes delete system32!
What's false? That they respawn or that they drop iron?
Remember: cannibalism is always an option.
They do not respawn all the time.

But you were already able to spawn flowers by using Bonemeal on grass, so they're already infinite.
Dude even if it was it doesn't matter...minecraft worlds are infinite which means infinite iron already generates...
Plus, if all your villagers die then you have to make your own golems....to farm your own..iron.
Yeah.. not renewable!
How? According to the wiki, they drop 3-5 iron. An iron swords lifetime damage is 753-1004. Iron golems have 100 health.
Oh... You were saying it's not practical...

No one's whining, so stop whining about it.
We're asking questions and discussing possible outcomes. I do believe that's what these forums are for.
And people were starting to. They haven't even seen the golems yet and they are already starting to claim the fact that they drop iron ingots is OP.
