Yeah, change the first post, way cool bro, way cool.

note: Then I mention a group of people in my posts, i mean the majority of information i have seen from that group, and my statement may not be accurate for every individual in that group.
Oh, didn't you hear? This thread is now my official reputation farm.
Just kidding. It actually sparked some good discussion a few pages back.
Theres people that does this, so i wouldnt be surprized....
Anyways, i have to keep my disagreement with the OP, in all the time ive been playing MC i didnt found a single mushroom biome.
And i disagree that you can do all the same stuff you do on the normal biomes than the mushrooms. Thats what makes that biome special. Did you ever saw a cow that gives stew? Cmon man! thats just... osom?
This request isn't particularly feasible; I agree with you that Mushroom biomes seem somewhat pointless due to their rarity and lack of biome-exclusive features, but it would be equally pointless to remove them as there are no reasons to go through the trouble of doing so. In my eyes, the only redeeming quality of the mushroom biome is the Mooshroom cow, which is almost inaccessible for most players, thus making it too impractical to effectively utilize its many abilities.
Instead of removing the biome completely, perhaps Jeb should add features to make visiting these sorts of special biomes worthwhile to the average player as well as make them a tad bit easier to find.
You're right, Insted of getting some cows and breeding them and planting some large mushroom trees I should waste hours wandering in the ocean in search of an island.
Mooshrooms produce either INFINITE mushroom soup, mushrooms, or steak & leather. I wouldn't just go looking for them, but when you do find them, you will realize they are the fastest way to get food in Minecraft. Period.
this statement makes no sense to me, something is pointless because its rare? so the end is pointless(i kinda have to agree on that lol, bad example). Strongholds are pointless because they are rare? nope.
lack of biome-exclusive features? apart from the mycillium and mushrroom cows?
what bugs me most is how many people have to have reasons for everything in game. i think its good to have rare biomes like this one, doesnt mean you have to drag a cow 14km back home! i wish there was more wildlife mobs in the game that were just for aesthetics, birds that just fly about for instance. I'd love to see fish shoals in oceans but tiny fish that you cant interact with other than when you swim towards them they part, like normal fish shoals.
Yes, I do also feel that strongholds are somewhat useless as well. While I do not advocate for the removal of the End or strongholds, I just don't believe that it is worth my time wasting Ender Eyes and quite a bit of my time trying to find a stronghold and beat a boss when I could be constructing something nice. The End is nice but the only practical resource that yields is experience (from the Enderdragon). I'll go there and kill the dragon sometime, but not soon.
I don't necessarily believe that there must be a purpose for every single game feature. There is simply little reason to spend time trying to catch a Mooshroom Cow and the such. The beauty that you also describe is Minecraft as a whole and is derived from the player's experiences playing it.
Since you have to walk home anyway, why not walk home holding wheat with a herd of mooshrooms behind you?

--Yeah, that's what I was doing. I was searching the world with a silk touch pick and wheat, when I made it there I got the mycelium and dragged the cows over 14,000 blocks of hills, ocean and dense forest. I ended up having to keep only 2 mooshrooms and had to kill hordes of other animals swarming me and impeding my movement not to mention slow movement through ocean and a lot of backtracks on hills so the cows wouldn't fall to their death.(took about 5 solid hours)
Infinite and a large amount from bone meal are pretty much the same thing considering it's a non-stackable food source. That would be like saying cake is not infinite, it's just not practical.
Honestly, they should make it to where you can make mycelium into carpets for your house for decoration. Some simple addition like that would at least make more people interested in actually traveling thousands of blocks in an ocean.
I've always thought of Mushroom Biomes as something to be stumbled across, not something to be sought out.
That's pretty interesting. I actually did 'stumble' across my first(first two near each other suprisingly) when I was just traveling.
The whole reason I was living in the ocean was because of the pirate language. I was having a blast with it. I went to see how far out the land was and ran into a mushroom island for the first time. Then I go for another km and there's another one.
The funny thing is, I was just astonished, but didn't even bother to do anything with them/in them. I just felt it was enough to look at them then keep going. This is because I don't like making soup or dragging animals across water and I already had a great melon farm.
It's useless, Just use bonemeal on rocks so you can get flint!
A better retort would have been, "Why do we need gravel? We have sand and dragon eggs as gravity affected blocks."
The reason why I truly don't like mushroom islands is because its items are so widespread it's just kind of a strange floating feature.
Imagine if we could find netherwart in every cave? Who in the bloody hell would travel to the Nether?
In this case, the extra feature(blaze rod) would be similar to mycelium. Blaze rods are very useful and can't be found anywhere else. What does mycelium do? It grows mushrooms, still terribly slow compared to large mushrooms. Am I getting any point across yet?
I don't like pizza; I'm sorry to inform the rest of the world but we'll need to have a global ban and possible eradication of pizza and all it's ingredients.
(See what I did there?)
our subject here is if the mushroom biome is important or not
but thanks for the info though.
The mushroom biome needs to be improved so its dreadful corrupting influence spreads across grass and corrupts trees and other mobs
Mooshrooms are only the beginning. When Creepers become infected by the mushrooms, no longer alive but helpless slaves to the primal fungus, that is when you will know true fear. Skeletal legions held together by fronds of fungus. Zombies serving as hosts to grow more mushrooms. Chickens, sheep and cows turned into the zombie slaves of the mushrooms

The Emperor's Rage echoes through the hills. The Emperor's Strength grips this land with fists of iron. The Emperor's Courage burns everlasting. The Endless Army will crush the Emperor's foes.
Dude, it's another girl in 1.1 discussion besides me and Krova! :biggrin.gif:
I laughed so hard this morning!
Read the first post again.
Agree.
Guess I can't rule them out just yet.

No, there are just 3 per world.
