Yes, get your **** together.... and fling it at the OP :biggrin.gif:
Finally, an excuse to add monkeys along with the ocelots. Isn't wordplay just awesome? :tongue.gif:
Anyway, I would rather look at the bright side- think of the buggy snapshots as a work in progress that the developer allowed the community to test and report back to them rather than the full game. I'm pretty sure most developers don't even allow that privilege of testing, so I would rather be leaning toward the grateful side as opposed to the cynical and sour viewpoint. Anyway, these have been reported and I'm pretty sure Jeb and Jon are aware now of the issues.
For the record, from the very start Jeb stated that snapshots can contain half complete features and code, and in many cases may be completely unplayable. Quit your bitching.
every week is a new snapshot, with tons of bugs. This week its no caves, nether warts don't grow, lighting is broken in new worlds, the end doesn't generate, etc...
seriously, i know that we are the testers, but at least check it out yourselves! honestly jeb and jons do the updates every 2 weeks cause i don't want all the shitty bugs.
Those weekly snapshots are for testing purposes. TESTING. PURPOSES. You shouldn't even be using them if you don't want to be a tester. Those aren magical time-travel devices that allow you to play 1.2 before everyone else.
Seriously. Complaining about bugs in a test snapshot. You are the kind of user that make my life as a developper miserable.

Whoa, harsh words.
And yes. I agree with you.
But, don't forget these snapshots are for testing only.
What could we do? We're testers,
The lowest part of the gaming industry.
And debugging is a tad bit hard.
I don't download the snapshots, I wait for the official releases. But I'm glad the snapshots are there, because it shows that Mojang are moving forward, getting things done, and indeed getting their sh*t together. I am also grateful for the people who download the snapshots and report all the bugs--because of them, and because of Mojang's efforts, we have a game that is just getting better and better.
So I guess my feelings are the exact opposite of the OP's.
Honestly it's great that they do prereleases and such and let people test their content before it's officially released, it's a great way for them to get feed back and testers without paying out the **** for a bunch of guys to sit around and play test the game. Also, the more people who put pressure on a snapshot the more chance it has to break for one of them which can lead to Mojang being able to fix mistakes bugs and glitches more effectively. I think people who complain about the snapshots being buggy, glitchy, flawed, or unplayable may not understand what they are for. As a side note, not to sound like an ass but the ones complaining about a snapshot might be someone who only got Minecraft recently and hasn't played in early Beta or earlier where everything was pretty glitchy but people dealt with it because they knew it was an early version of a game and not the full release.
Well don't get the update then...
The bugs are random bugs, they don't know what will be buggy, they would have to test everything, it's like looking for something that you know nothing about.
You know, you guys are giving extremely sycophantic, fan boy types of responses.
Stuff like this "well don't download it then".. that is so trite and clearly defensive response that lacks any substance whatsoever.
Don't like crime? Well don't go outside. Don't like crappy food quality from a place that is clearly capable of better? Just don't eat there.
Don't try to change anything. Just throw up your hands and accept it all.. right up the rear.
This snapshot was undeniably rushed, and left in a state with some SERIOUS bugs.
That's undeniable. To make excuses for them, or blame it on those downloading, is to be a complete suck up fanboy. If you can't find fault with this, you can't find fault with anything. This is as cut and dry as it gets.
I for one was really looking forward to starting fresh with the new world gen. But no, after being all keyed up to play, I see this update is fundamentally broken, making it utterly pointless to play. At least on a new world.
This begs the question of why it had to be rushed out the door in the first place.
I'm just really sick of you guys who constantly argue about this stuff, and don't realize just how blindly fanboyish you are being in your mindless defense of everything that ever comes up. You clearly find no fault with them whatsoever. They never make mistakes. They never made bad decisions.
No, it's always the fault of the complainer.
OP had a perfectly valid, fair point. This snapshot is buggy as hell, and was clearly rushed and not well tested. That's clear to anyone honest.. and with a brain. It's completely fair to point this out. And frankly, it should be a bit embarrassing for them. I know I would be ashamed to have put out something so ****ed up, and so clearly lacking in testing! Very ashamed.
But you kids will just tell me to shut up, stop whining, and continue to worship the ground these guys walk on like they have never made a single mistake or bad decision, ever.
I'm not saying that any and all criticism is warranted. I'm saying, if you defend this update, you are absolutely a fanboy who will not criticize any aspect of the game or decisions surrounding it.. at all.
A lot of people here don't recognize my own experience and expertise in this regard. I've actually worked in the software/gaming industry. I know what I'm talking about. You kids don't have a clue what you are talking about, most of the time, and just too busy riding Notch's/Jeb's nut.
Anyway it's obvious it's just young kids complaining about stuff at this point, as Mojang have stepped it up a lot since the new year.
Young kids nothing. I'm old enough to be a grandparent to many people here. And I find this update to be very shady and sad.
I hate to break it to you, but just because you are now an adult doesn't mean that whatever ideas you have a flawless and perfect, and those that disagree are obviously younger than you, who have not had your "world experiences" or whatever stupid way you rationalize to youselves how much smarter you are. That attitude is extremely transparent when such comments are made.
I repeat, I'm old enough to be a grandfather to many here. And I find many faults in many things they do. It's nothing to do with being childish at all. It's more like 25+ years experience with gaming, including several years at two software houses many people here would have heard of. I speak from experience and expertise. Not just mindless devotion.
A lot more of the "kids" on these forums are mindless, suck up, sycophantic fanoys. That's a much more fair assessment. Blind, mindless fanboys who defend everything and anything that comes up, every time, from every angle, without any rational thought at all. Nothing more than defending their precious.
Mojang cant have done any testing at this rushed snapshot at all. They would have found most of the major bugs if they just started the game and "tested" it for 15 min.
---> Light bug: They would have seen it instantly. Just look at the water....
---> No cave opening on the surface: Not hard to detect, took me a few min to see that something was not right.
---> Birch trees gone: I spawned in a forest, instantly notised it.
Yes, snapshot are released for us to find the bugs so that they can release a 1.2 bugfree version. But seriously, I am expecting mojang to atleast test the new stuff before making it public, and they have not tested this at all. If you say otherwise: pull your head out off Jeb ass so you can see clearly. Obviosly 90% of you here have so much **** in your eyes that you cant see at all.
Okay... a snapshot is not any kind of release. It's not something to be rushed or put on a pedestal. It's literally just a little preview of what they've done so far. They don't have to complete anything for the sake of a snapshot.
What I'm trying to say is... Yes, they see these bugs. But they're still going to release a snapshot to say, "Hey, this is what we've done so far." Bugs and all.
Every week, we get to see what they have done. This snapshot shows us what they've done. To say that it's "incomplete" is ridiculous, because there was nothing to complete. It's not an update, just a preview.
P.S. It's a perfectly legitimate thing to suggest that people who don't want to encounter bugs wait until an actual release to update their game. These snapshots are 100% guaranteed to be buggy, especially since this week is a transitional time between the last format and the new one.
That's why you have to personally download and install it yourself rather than it being automatic.
Nightly builds are the current version that developer is working on as of their posting. Nightly builds aren't completed versions and are usually more unstable.
I just don't accept broken, clearly rushed and untested updates without voicing my criticism.
This isn't some borderline, minor issues. This thing is ****ed up. It's utterly pointless to play test with a new world in this update. For anyone that wanted to do that, it's just about impossible or pointless to do anything with these missing underground areas, etc.. Anyone who cares about a solid, functional map will clearly wait for a new version to create said world.
I'm entitled to complain, and anyone who doesn't like it can shove it. I speak from experience and have seen how far industry standards have fallen in the last decade(s). I don't accept it. I argue for it to improve.
But millions of fanboys rush in to protect their precious developers and enable them, and keep any real progress from being made. You enable and support them. You give them cover. You give them reason to think they do no wrong. This leads to hubris and bad decision making.
Using your own silly arguments against you.. if you don't like my thread content, don't read my thread content.
wow, pretty simple eh? Problem solved.
But I won't shut up just because I make some fanboys sad.

So you agree - anyone who doesn't want to deal with these bugs should not download the snapshot and instead opt to wait for the release of 1.2.
P.S. A lot of these bugs wouldn't be well known without people playtesting in the first place.
your signature is displeasing
To, OP:
Hello, and i would like to say that YOU are a BIG whiny assed attention *****
Will the idiocy never stop?
