Everything that Jeb and Jon are doing for this game exceeds any expectations I may have had.
Let's take a look at what they've done IN THE LAST WEEK, let alone since they teamed up.
- Finished up "Anvil". I thought that Jeb was "merely" increasing the world height by 128 whole blocks, but nooo... Biomes are organized by chunks, making things SOOO much easier for everybody who has complained about biomes overlapping other biomes and structures. Just think of how many complaint threads will be negated, both on the biome front, and the build height front! Even so, Jeb went a step FURTHER! There is room for a TON more block IDs, the state of empty space isn't saved, chunks are better compressed: Performance is going to significantly INCREASE in the same update that the world height is DOUBLED! Not to mention the possibilities for mods to add more blocks. :biggrin.gif:
- Villagers. Everyone hated these things when they were first introduced, because they were literally less dynamic than the farm animals. Just look at them now! They are one of the game's MORE dynamic features, and it's only been a few snapshots! They open and close doors, go into their homes when it's dark, sprint away from zombies (who actively chase and kill them!), and turn around to stare at passives (including the player)! Not only that, but Jon is implementing: A way for villagers to protect themselves from zombies, a way for villagers to reproduce and sustain their numbers, and when lamps are introduced, I have a feeling that villagers will interact with those.
- Zombies used to be the generic, everyday mob. Sure, they had a little bit more health than other mobs, but now they're so much better than that. They hide from the sun, break down doors to get at you, and even attack villagers! So many players have suggested or asked for a "blood moon event", where zombies swarm the player en mass and bust down your doors, and with Jon working on "zombie sieges", those hopes may soon become reality!
- Lamps. Some people were worried when they noticed that AI and biome code were being worked on, more so than new blocks and mechanisms. Just the other day, I wanted lamps to be implemented, and now they're going to be! So great.
In conclusion, Jeb and Jon are the best. Minecraft is becoming better than it ever has been. I love this game.
I like what jon and jeb have added so far, and I look forward to what they will add in the future... but drooling seams somewhat excessive/gross.
-Just Saying- :tongue.gif:
Why are Jeb and Jon actually listening to the community and doing a significantly higher amount of work than what Notch usually half-finishes in a few weeks rather than 2 months.
I'm happy to see AI changes and all that going forward. Even new blocks and such, though the addition of new ores means generated chunks will be without them. I just wish that they had actually finished Minecraft before release, and were batching up these changes for expansions, not point releases. It's frustrating to try and play a game where, since it's still so incomplete, you wind up waiting 3 weeks for mods and such to be updated, only to have a new version to wait for come out a week or two later. And enough with all the core functional changes. That **** should've been ironed out in Alpha. :sad.gif:
Yeah it's good that Minecraft is getting the changes that normally happen under Beta in practically every other game except Minecraft...
They are doing a great job no thanks to Notch.
Grow up. Notch is working on other projects now but without him you wouldn't even have this game. I swear some of you 12 year olds give each other a bad name.
Notch= Snow Golems, Mooshrooms, Dragons that don't breath fire.

If Notch didn't do it, someone would have eventually. If id didn't create the FPS genre by making Doom, someone else would have invented the genre. The same would have gone for Minecraft.
I'm making a very truthful statement. We don't need Notch anymore. Jeb is more than capable.

Edit: Mmm, seems pretty cool, I can't judge yet.

That's some seriously broken logic.
It may not be the exact same game it is now.
Who knows, it COULD be better. It could have a better engine for all we know.
Don't quickly dismiss his point without a reason at all.
