Diamonds make sense, since Diamonds was the enderman's original drop
Actually, the diamond drop was a placeholder purely for debugging before they added ender pearls.
I really hope this doesn't happen. I saw Ethos make a fairly simple enderman trap in the end and you could get like 20 endermen in a few seconds dropping from that thing. I don't want infinite diamonds :sad.gif:
EDIT: It seems some idiot just put that in the wiki to stir up confusion. 12w06a has already happened. Also, diamonds weren't the "Original drop" as it also says in that line in the wiki.

I used to write original signatures, then I took an arrow to the knee.
Way too overpowered how? I don't understand why so many people think they are game designers; garnering some holier-than-thou philosophy on the apparent "cosmic balance" of minecraft.

Doesn't change the fact diamonds were the first drop. Placeholder or not, it was still there.
Having it drop diamonds is like a call back on those origin days.
Wow... I hope they are really rare. If not it makes getting diamonds too easy.
Going by the lack of any "OMG ENDERMEN DROP DIAMONDS!!!1!" threads on the forum with actual evidence, this doesn't seem too overpowered. Especially if it has such an incredibly low drop rate. As it stands, this is the first I've heard of it. Either this is due to it being stupidly rare or it isn't true.

Not to start an argument here, but they didn't drop diamonds in the official 1.8 version, or even the two pre-releases for 1.8. A "call back on those origin days" wouldn't make any sense as most of the people who play the game wouldn't ever know that endermen dropped diamonds in early 1.8 development as a placeholder unless they researched the subject.

Who cares
They dropped it at one time. End of discussion.
It doesn't matter the intent, it doesn't matter how short of time.

A trap could be easily made in the end that yields infinite diamonds. That's too large of a gameplay hole to be officially in the game. Hell, the first half of the game's title is "mine" and they're already doing updates that don't really add on to that part of gameplay, I would hate to see one that subtracts from it. (Diamonds are a reward from mining)
IT'S A GAME WITH 4 MILLION PLAYERS AND OWNED BY MOJANG, I DOUBT IT'S "YOUR" GAME

Iron being arguable as balanced is one thing.
But DIAMONDS DROPPING FROM A MOB, that can be farmed in a grinder, ARE NOT OVERPOWERED?!
I think most people agree that's just too OP. Majority's opinion > you.

Thing is unlike zombies/skellies/spiders, Endermen cannot be exploited via spawn farming. They hit like a truck and they TP if diamonds do drop then it might be more rare then endereyes which wouldn't make it OP.
So no even the exploiters cannot argue that this is OP by any means because there isn't enderman spawners.
Can you give me some proof.
I know that in Beta 1.8 pre-release Endermen did dropped diamond, but it was removed for the Beta 1.8 release.
Was it re-implemented by jeb now?
Someone please give me some proof of this...
Saw in the wiki, as the last snapshot they drop diamonds http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Enderman
Download latest snapshot.
Get to the end
Kill a bunch of endermen
???
Profit!
