I hate to break it to you OP and most of your followers in this thread, but Minecraft is not a 100% perfect game.
And I also hate to break it to the whiners group, but Minecraft is not a 100% imperfect game, either.
Mindlessly supporting a feature is as equally worthless as mindless opposing it.

Every fanbase has it's lunatic fringe. Decrying one has bigger or worse than the others is meaningless. You want to fix it, set an example by not being 'crazy'.
Almost every fanbase is like this, the worst I've seen was when I played WoW and even Maplestory waaaay back in the day was pretty bad as well. In fact I could go on the WoW Arena forums right now and almost all of the topics are complaining about a different class/mechanic.
SPUF looks identical. Spills out form the class sub-sections to the general chat. Cool kids topic is the tomislave / sandvitch nerf right now.
Hey everybody! Thanks to *most* of you for keeping this conversation sane and simple!
I was informed that indeed this community is not unlike the others.
I was also told how I am one of those people who complain about other people, which is true! But that isn't to say that at least we can be civil about this shenanagins!
Now, I felt that some of us were missing the entire point of my initial rant, which was rather long and pre-meditated over the course of about two minutes.
However! I feel that this thread has reached its impasse, and all that has been needed to say, has been said.
My goal was to interject an idea, and let it grow, attempting to share a common awareness about the typical structure of human society as it stands today.
All in all, I still love this game, and I hope that it will continue to change and evolve for the better! Live long and prosper my fellow miners!
There's also the people who divide the community in dumb groups.
To be honest, I'm sick of this community. Most people are so immature and dumb, there's only 3, maybe 4 I can name that are actually respectable.
"Respectable" is such a subjective term that I'd prefer not to use it when referring to the rather opinionated people on these discussion forums. Respect can refer to anyone one shares agreement with, whether the things they agree on are sensible or not.
I would only use "respectable" on those who treat things in a objective manner. I only find those sort of people on the Redstone sub-forum; most of them don't necessarily quibble as much on many of the trivial things on these discussion-related forums. People like Regular Hexahedron are only interested in the advancement of Redstone science for the benefit of the community and for that, I find him a figure to be respected in the forums.
Most of the people you refer to seem to only reside in the discussion forums, as the vocal minority. The community isn't entirely terrible. The modding and redstone sub-forums are filled with wonderful, productive people who work and innovate for the benefit of other players.
You should go look on the Halo Reach forums on Bungie.net. The people there are terrible...
HAHHAHHAHHAHAHHHAA!!!!! You got that right man! I play Halo: Reach all the time and follow up on the Bungie.net forums to. Its terrible like really bad
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The majority of those who enjoy the game do so quietly.
I think Minecraft has a very good fanbase. It just also has some noisy folk who can't help but voice their negative opinions. Just like any other online fanbase. [/diplomacy]

Oh! Oh! Me! I'm in that group! I don't use potions, though.
Well, to be fair, I didn't really love the game until Alpha. Only played it once before that =p
Oh hi..i thought i was the only one. Remember when it was dirt, stone, water, lava and shrubs only?
My god, am I reading this thread right now, is this real life?
Are you guys high, or just new to the internet?
The Minecraft forum is definitely one of the most civilized gaming communities currently in existence. I would never so flagrantly disregard someones criticisms about something, but this is just untrue.
A: Honest to goodness attempts at art. Even from people who aren't artists. Active skinners, lively modding community, architects and designers. Lotta creativity surging through this place.
B: Actual criticism from people who care about the path the game is going down. It's users aren't just trying to change the game, they have a vested interest in its community and what certain changes may entail for future updates.
C: Most of its users can type. No promises that what they're typing is intelligent and thought-provoking, but it's not BR BR BR BR BR BR BR BR BR BR BR BR BR
The Minecraft community has it's hang-ups; lotta indecisive people here who are afraid to take a side, lotta retartists with stunning portfolios that consist of "cookie monster, cookie monster in suit, link, red link, link in suit, steve, steve in suit, steve w/ headphones" plenty of people who don't emit any personality on the forum and have 200+ posts of "I don't like it but I don't hate it"
But by saying that this community is "bad" or even "worse" than anything else than something great makes me think you did not even peek your head into the forums of Ragnarok, WoW, runescape, Gaia, Neopets, Myspace, Luna Online, ANY Nexon community (Maple Story, Audition, Mabinogi) League of Legends, GameFAQS, Perfect world-- you get what I mean, the list goes on. Writhing dark holes of stupidity. Entire sections consisting of "gimme ur items or i report u an say u molest me ingame" on the forums.
I hate when people disregard problems with the excuse that it "could be worse." I love pointing out the flaws of entire groups of people and acting like a jackass in general. You can trust me when I say that the absolute worst thing about its fanbase is a little mediocrity here and there.
You forgot the worst crowd, the extreme survivalists. Those who always complain about Minecraft being easy and always cry for mob spawning in any light condition, that are able to level your buildings in a heartbeat and kill you just by looking at you.
Those who wish food was a limited ressource, that there should only be three blocks of iron on any map and that creepers should be able to open doors. Those very same who'd love lava rains and volcanoes and tornadoes to level the map every day and who wish for Endermen to be able to teleport the player into the void. The same people who wish there was a thirst meter too, that torches should run out and that dragons should spawn in the real world.
The kind of people who'd love to make Minecraft unplayable. Those whose ideas I cannot stand.
Welcome to the internet mate. It was the exact same over at Bungie.net, it's the same over at Battlelog.com. No matter what the game, what style, how it's played, there will be masses of complainers. The problem is though, is that the majority of people who join gaming forums are only joining to complain.
Doesn't matter what we do, we'll have to deal with complaining masses. We're just gonna have to deal with it.
I find it incredibly ironic that you said we should just ignore the whiny fanbase. This is a very whiny original post. Nobody is ignoring it. And somehow, I am totally unsurprised. And desperately trying to not laugh so hard I fall over.
And I also hate to break it to the whiners group, but Minecraft is not a 100% imperfect game, either.

I'm guilty of that one as well. :tongue.gif:

Haha, barely. I didn't really like the game when I first tried it, so I spent very little time playing until Alpha rolled around.
Doesn't matter what we do, we'll have to deal with complaining masses. We're just gonna have to deal with it.
Nah, Roblox has mature people on it, they're just hard to find. I used to know a few that I met in-game. I don't think they play much anymore, though.
"Look at me still talking when there's science to do. When I look out there it makes me glad I'm not you."
You just made a new group: Dumbasses who cant read
