Don't listen to these stuck-up kids, I fully agree with you, I hate when people say "Don't use it then" The point of a shelter is indeed, gone. And if you say they are making it easier for new players, then PLAY ON PEACEFUL so no mobs attack you while sleeping in some random field. But don't ruin it for the other half of the community who actually want some challenge in this game like me and Locklear308.
You guys are noobs if you think sleeping outside has no consequenses. Once i was sleeping, a creeper blew up my bed and almost killed me, and i had to fight a zombie behind it with low health. I'd rather just stand there and be ready to fight them to sleep in the open. It almost killed me.
It needs to be the old mechanics with the new mechanics for beds. You can't sleep if there are monsters nearby, and if there is a path to you, one will spawn and wake you up. It is the only way.

Perfect!

Or just the pathing. What if there's a cave under your house with mobs preventing you from sleeping? You shouldn't have to worry about them.
In the new snapshot villagers are supposed to be able to detect houses. Maybe this could be used to fix the glitchiness of the old system.

Are you sure this is with the new system? The getting woken up by mobs thing was removed. Mobs don't simulate as they normally would while you are sleeping and mobs never spawn near (within a 24 block sphere of) the player. If you can fall asleep (no mobs within 10 blocks) you should be safe.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
Beds aren't broken though. They aren't bugged. It's a change in gameplay.
