First, it was never scary, just really lame and unoriginal.
Second, yes I agree, the zombie sounds were a lot better. Now they sound like balloons squeezing.
Third, they are a much lamer mob now they instantly teleport when they touch water. I mean, WTF? That's supposed to be a weakness! It added strategy to fighting.
It doesn't actually work the way it should. You can aim your crosshair directly at the Enderman's face, and he'll do nothing. But aiming more towards the middle of his body will **** him off...
Nothing in any videogame is scary unless it's set up to be so(a straight story line with set characters to run at you from certain positions). A mob can be intimidating because it is powerful, but I can never see scary.
Fear is a subjective thing. You can't sit there and say something isn't scary, you can only say it doesn't scare you.

Fighting ignorance and false information one post at a time.
For the record if I correct you it's not meant maliciously, but if you whine about it I AM laughing at you.
I have an SMP v1.1 server and I can confirm that Enderman still get mad at you. I had a battle with 3 of them just last night.
Just to clear things up, they don't get mad for looking AT them, they get mad when you look AWAY from them. It's like a staring contest, and when you lose, they attack.

It's still their weakness.
If you ever get into an Enderman fight, you can just splash water on the ground, and they'll de-aggro.

Yes, in fact that water strategy was improved with that addition, if we are smart enough we can use every " negative " feature to our advantage.
Creepers for example, the biggest motherf.... of the game, when you are surrounded by way too much mobs, why not make that creeper explode and then go back so it wont damage you so much, 5 mobs killed ( creeper + 4 other mobs ).
Yeah, they need to shriek and scream at you and teleport more to kill you :biggrin.gif:
no, I don't like the annoying gasping of ghasts, I can see where Endermen screaming and shrieking would cause me to stop playing with the sound on altogether.

Villagers need to turn into zombies once killed by a zombie... March 24th 2012
I remember reading the crosshair has to be on their face to make them angry. Looking at the back of their head supposedly won't aggro them anymore
I have better luck with the torso, these days. The target zone has always been haphazardly placed: In the first Enderman builds, they only became enraged if you looked directly ABOVE their heads. You never know what's gonna set them off next. :tongue.gif:

collision detection and bounding boxes on all entities is a joke, utter joke. I mean, they did not even include a hit box for a zombies head, the one thing everyone knows kills a zombie, remove the head.
One other thing, entities are treated very lightly, you kill a mob, and it poofs, wtf is that some 1980's video arcade ********, thats what that is. I want spiders to loose legs and become immobile, I need creepers to get pinned to a tree/ground because I shot them with an arrow and they should be pushed by the velocity of my arrow a bit. I want to see the limbs of countless zombies laying around the outskirts of my keep.

Its not going to happen buddy. Imagine how laggy the game could get with all those things. Its true that for example yo ucould mode some nice shadersand lighting effects and whatnot, but you will need a better computer for a game that is know as a simple game.
wasnt the orginal idea for the ender man have then that if you stare at them and then turn they tp to you and attack now its just you stare they run towards you

i got white first but i redid it by awnsering properly
They were supposed to be scary at first. Notch released the Enderman and it was a huge screw up on his part with it griefing servers and just being stupid (dying in the rain, falling into lava, etc).
It's almost like Notch trying to release a wraith and it's supposed to be scary, but the wraith is bugged and so happens to get attacked by chickens and then dies. So then it takes Notch about 2 months to fix and...
were you playing SMP when looking at them? A glitch made them only react in SMP if you look at their middle block. not their top on. Basically, aim at their stomach.

Remember kids, when the mod crashes delete system32!

Since then, they feel like my prey.
They're not even a good fight because half the time they teleport away and lose interest.
ADDermen, more like it.

Not really scary.
