I don't recall anyone forcing you to delete your worlds.
I tried to +1 you but I reached my quota. :/
I'm tired of people not realizing it's pretty much an either/or situation. Either you cherish your projects or a new update more. In my case, in 1.8-1.9, it was do I cherish mods or vanilla, and I had to go with the new vanilla updates.
..and yes, MC Edit if you don't like starting over fresh and having to think up new things for a change..
I don't get too attached to worlds, In fact I zipped away all the pre 1.8 worlds into a file when 1.8 was released.
I understand where you're coming from, but I don't think it is intelligent to get rid of building worlds JUST because of a terrain update, since you can either copy it to a new world or continue building with broken looking chunks.
Then again, I don't play singleplayer except on flat maps, and the terrain generation for those probably won't change any time soon.

Yes, well broken looking chunks are the problem. And yes, I am attached to my work to want to keep it. Some people build more than stone huts, you know.
What you've done is say "there's no problem", because you don't have a problem.
This is stupid. Nobody is forced to get the snapshots. You actually have to go out of your way to get them.
If you don't want to delete your world, just don't get the snapshots. QED.
Yeah, pretty much. The .1 updates come out what, every month or more? That's a pretty long time. You guys are forcing this on yourselves and pleading Mojang to tend to you.
One thing I love about the new versions is the Oceans.
Mainly because they are large enough that you can MCEdit your entire explored old world, or specially selected and trimmed portion of it with Base etc into a new version world as an island! :smile.gif:
And the extra cool thing is that you can just cover those Chunk Cliffs bordering the new "island" with vines now and have it look all "Mysterious Island" like the island from the TV series "LOST". Especially since your island "Dimension shifted". :wink.gif:

Okay, let's assume I only download the updates when they are officially released.
I still have to go through the hassle mentioned earlier, because I want what I created, and I want new content.
You want new content to be added, but you don't want things to change.
Solution: stop wanting the impossible.
That argument is quite possibly the most laughable one I've seen in regards to this topic.
There's a difference between "wanting new things, but not wanting anything to change" and "wanting new things without abandoning the old ones." The former is indeed impossible, but nobody even remotely suggested it.
I can understand where the OP is coming from; as a builder of large structures, it's incredibly frustrating being forced to choose between the hours of work that I REALLY don't want to lose, and the new content that I REALLY want to have access to.
Can't you use a downgrader tool for the time being? I mean, you don't have to delete the worlds, and if you are willing to share them, I would downgrade and play them.
Yes, old maps and mods work, assuming you have all the correct versions and the necessary mods. The only thing I have been having a problem with is MCPatcher. It won't let me patch in my texture pack because I guess the bin is new or something?
That's the beauty of Minecraft. You don't have to stay in the current version. I love the new version, but the Aether is updated slower than molasses in December. I'm sure many other people have got a downgrader just for that reason.

I don't think Bukkit has a downgrader, unfortunately.

Well, Minecraft Version Changer has server files you can use for, say example, Beta 1.2. I have yet to figure out how to work it. Tested Alpha 1.2.6, but it gave me an error and started spazzing out.
I don't understand your point. You complain that they keep changing the terrain generator, but you are saying you want the new terrain.
Are you saying that you want your old map to have the new terrain features?
It's very possible. You just need to change two things with NBT editor and you will get the new terrain features.
Edit: Upon reading your other posts, I'm further confused. Are you complaining only because the snapshots exists and you have to wait for them?
