Yeah, the current implementation kinda sucks. I just really want an actual ocelot companion that will go running so fast and free, like Fujimora Pantsu and me. Maybe give it a domesticated cat like attitude so that it occasionally deigns to attack with you but mostly just lounges around and watches you fight.
Oh, and I really like the idea for there to be a random chance for the baby ocelots to be born as domesticated.
Well, a simple solution is to just delete the texture of the domesticated cats and replace it with the wild Ocelot texture.
But I also believe the tame cat changes size...? It is a little bit smaller than the wild Ocelot. Not a huge deal, but it's still something.

i know this is stupid but...................
this is the game where you can ride pigs with a saddle and the game with half mushroom, half cows in it
Exactly! This game has variety and crazy stuff like that. Why should Steve have a domestic house cat when he can have a fearless, batshit insane Ocelot that can fight skeletons and shoot friggin lasers out of its eyes?
House cats don't add to the variety and randomness of Minecraft. Ocelots do.
When the screenshot was first released, no one even thought it could be an Ocelot. Everyone thought monkey, right? It took an outside, unofficial source (who was probably informed by Jeb anyway) to tell us that it was an Ocelot.
Ocelots fit the Minecraft theme more than a house cat.
I don't care if they are just a reskinned Wolf, they're awesome.

I think that Ocelots are an awesome addition to the game, because I have had cats and dogs, and I love them both for different reasons. I just think that dogs (in minecraft) are more for hunting, defending, fighting, ect. But just because cats can't kill anything but chickens at this point, they can have other purposes, such as doing what wolfs do with less attack, but more speed. They could do something like hiss when a mob comes close, even in the dark due to their good sight (this could be helpful while in the dark or as a warning system). Maybe even something like pooping and peeing in your house, to "mark your territory" (i know, it's stupid). A last thing could be to have the choice of domesticating it, or keeping it wild. Each would help in a different ways.
I'll probably just ignore Ocelots in general unless it is for an achievement in the XBLA version, but adding breeding or taming possibilities wont hurt me. I'd be fine with it, though I don't think it should necessarily be 'high' on the development priorities.

GENERATION 28: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the

Tame ocelots will follow you, defend you, and generally work something like dogs. The only real change would be that they would follow you at a greater distance, circling you as you go along, scoping out the forest and such.
Cats (perhaps the result of giving milk to ocelots?) would generally stay within a few dozen blocks of your bed when they were tamed (turned into cats), alternating between wandering and following you when you are close by. House cats.

Wolves get COLLARS and follow your every whim like little puppies.
DEAL WITH IT.
Actually, they have this neat feature called a sit function. It allows them to stay in one place.
And how is putting a wolf on a collar such a far fetched idea?

I would if I knew how to modify the default texture. Anyways, it would be nice if it was like it in Vanilla Minecraft.
You can tame them into housecats?
Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . . . .
They started as wild animals in distance past, and now they are fat lazy fluff ball that couldn't hold their own against a mouse
That way people who want ocelots get them and people who want cats get them.
Everyone wins.
Or taming an ocelot with a fish keeps it an ocelot but taming it with milk turns it into a cat. Than you can breed them for more of whatever it is.

The ocelot transformation doesn't make sense without magic. (Steve could possibly do this, but why?) I don't think it's a good comparison.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
