When I saw the speculation that the new mob might be an ocelot yesterday, I was fine with it. A leopard in compact form is all it is. Today when I saw that they were the actual confirmed mob in the game, I was happy with that, knowing that monkeys would probably be added later with full AI.
But then I went to watch a video of the new Ocelots. Untamed, they looked awesome. I couldn't wait to go find one in my world....
...But then the player gave it fish. The mid size jungle feline morphed into a small domestic house cat...
....
Am I the only one who isn't ok with this?

They'll probably "split" it, so that you'll have wild ocelots that breed domestic cats.
Yeah, you wouldn't get that in one generation in the real world. But neither would you be able to access an islandic dimension home to a giant black dragon with a purple face by combining pearls used by rare tall black creatures to teleport, with goo made from a giant cubic slime that lives underground and dust smashed from rods that make up a firey metallic creature that only lives in fortresses in an alternate dimension made of lava and blood-stained rock, and placing it on a special block that is only found in a square above a pit of lava in a room with boxes that create massive silverfish in a gigantic underground structure made of stone bricks that only two or three of exist on the planet.
If cats MUST be included, they should be BRED from ocelots.
It doesn't make sense for a full-on transformation to occur.
Well I guess it's just TOO BAD that Mojang is SUPER LAZY.
I mean, if they actually wanted to put some real time into making a new mob we would have something interesting instead of a new skin for the Wolf and some slight behavior tweaks (Oh, it eats fish and attacks chickens! That's totally different from a wolf! Wheee!)then it would've been nice. But it's very obvious that they just wanted to get a new mob out as quickly as possible, so this is what you get.
If it was a wild cat when tamed then it'd be an even BIGGER rip-off of wolves. Honestly I love the idea of having a domestic cat, because sometimes I just, well, want a little kitty to have in my house in Minecraft. Wolves are there for 'Big strong scary hunty animal grrrr' . . .
I would be pissed off if Ocelots were just that and less, thank you very much.
It bugs me because it is really bizarre and unrealistic. I mean when you tame a wolf it doesn't turn into a freaking golden retriever, why should this turn into a house cat?
I'm just hoping that this is a pre-release thing that will be fixed soon. My guess is jeb plans to make it so that maybe offspring will have a chance to look like housecats and this is just the precursor to that coding.
Well they made the mob in 1 week so.... Yea... Its probably not finished
Personally, I'm getting really tired of all the half-finished **** in the game.
Not interested in seeing NEW half-finished **** until some of the other stuff is actually ****ing finished.
Frankly, this just show how bad the management is at Mojang. Apparently no one is willing to tell the programmers to finish things before starting a new project.

It's half finished because it hasn't been released yet. You do realize you're playing a development snapshot, right? Not an official release?
On another note, maybe they are finished. Just because it's not as complicated or intricate as you would have liked, it doesn't mean it's not complete.

You seriously think it's going to be any better when 1.2 comes out? I don't have that sort of optimism when it comes to the work ethic of anyone at Mojang anymore.
Ugh...I hate the new ocelots...they're just jungle cats, they don't fit with the rest of the mobs...and they're tamable, WTH, we have a tamable mob, we don't need new one, we need a mob that does something different...ugh...I feel like it's a mod, I feel like it's Mo' Creatures...

Like the guy above me said, this is a work in progress and isn't meant to be an official release. that's why it isn't an automatic update like the officials are. If you want to wait for the complete version, then do just that. Wait.
You obviously don't understand that the words tame and wild are antonyms.
I knew you would say that. However I look at it as tame being synonymous to domestic and wild being synonymous to not domestic.
An ocelot is not a domesticated cat, therefore I gave it the title of a tame wild cat.
In literal terms, yes, my post contradicts itself, but you can get the idea of what I said, for the sake of cleverness.
I also think the idea of a tame ocelot staying in its original form but with a collar added to the skin AND being able to breed to make domestic cats is the best option to satisfy everyone.
About the retexturing... It does change size too right? It isn't a huge problem, but I was just wondering. I've only seen the video on Ocelots once and can't fully recall.

This. If enough people vouch for this idea, it will be made so. Can we try an accomplish that?
Errybody who supports this idea, tweet to Jeb or Jon and see what they say

I do understand. From what I can tell, all they do is change color.
Change the cat textures in the texture pack. Problem solved.
We tame wild cats to get tame wild cats.
Fixed it. Cats, or any animal for that matter, shouldn't transform/downgrade.

This is actually my number one concern with the ocelots.
Did you just ignore the second half of my post?
