They need to finish a static terrain code and modify the details of biomes overtop of it without having to change the base terrain generation, that way our worlds will remain compatible with each update.
It was a sarcastic statement. Yes, jungle biomes and the new random hills are great, and so would better biome transition. :wink.gif:
It is Minecraft, I would be fine with a tundra next to desert if there was a spot of something in between them for transition. It would take way too much work to make sure one biome doesn't spawn next to another.
This thread is now about your favorite wacky biome combos.
I love Taisert with a river. Plenty of wood nearby (and a chance for Wolves!) and enough sand to fufill my sandstone dreams. Plus it has it's own infinte water supply so I don't have to go far at all.
I just want to point something out. See in Canada there, how some of the biomes line up?
There's Taiga right next to a rain forest, right next to temperate grassland, next to a desert and some mountains... Specifically, there's a spot in Western Quebec there where a small strip of rain forest is lined up right against the northern Tundra.
And I can personally say that there are plenty of swamps that dot the many lakes and rivers.
Taiga, Tundra and Jungle can and do exist near each other.
If they want to change the generation and make it more structured, they will. But there's nothing wildly wrong with how things are now.
Only by academic definition. Its not like theres a rainforest with tarzan and tigers in canada, it just means its a forest which receives a lot of rain.
Tropical jungles and forests cannot and will not ever exist next to Tundra or Taiga, and if they do then I think that will be the least of our worries
edit: as for people with the arguing capacity of a goldfish, i love minecraft, played and supported for well over a year and a half. But if you're going to be bitching about how much people are criticizing ILLOGICAL TERRAIN GENERATION you need to realize some people are just trying to give positive criticism to improve the generation.
They also need to fix the way rivers flow through biomes. I mean, have you ever found a river in a desert or mountain biome that doesn't dry up every 10 or so blocks 'cause the height difference is too big? I've seen this problem in jungle biomes as well. You sit in your boat and follow the river for a while and then it suddenly ends and reappears a few blocks away. Now you have to get out, get some logs and make another boat to continue your journey. And then it happens again and again and again 'til you just say "Screw it, I'll walk". The rivers aren't even rivers in some areas, they're just series of ponds! Please fix this Mojang...

just saying.
On topic: I think that the biome generation is fine, cuz lets face it minecraft isn't the most realistic game anyway.

Realistic or not, it's annoying to have rivers with breaks in them. I'd like to be able to navigate down a river in a boat without having to stop and make a new boat, or dig a canal to connect the disjoint segments.
It's not really about realism. Minecraft's biomes are nothing like our world to begin with.
The real point that is being made (albeit a bit rough) is that the transitions between biomes should be made smoother to make them look a lot more appealing.

There is a difference between artful parody of the natural world, and just plain sloppy game design.
Why don't we need jungle biomes? There great

Been saying it since I began the thread <3
Random biome placement is not important., nor will it be fixed.
Lol, says the guy who can't help himself but compulsively post in it?
Here's a solution for you: Don't click this thread.

I dare you to click it.
