Question is title. So my wolf is low on health, and I'm trying to feed him porkchops, but they don't seem to affect his health (his tail is hanging kinda low :/).
When I try to feed him anything he'll get hearts in his eyes and get all horny for my leg (jk), but his health won't go up. I'm aware that Jeb did this so you could breed wolves but is there any way to raise his health back up without resorting to splash potions? I can't find any answers here or on the wiki, but please redirect me if this has already been answered on another thread.

It turns out that a wolf's tail no longer indicates how much health it has. feeding it will still heal it.
Right then. This bug will probably be addressed in the next update.
I would also like to add that healing splash potions do not effect wolves.
Not sure why I thought hurling a heavy glass object at it would help matters. :/

I haven't had that problem, and neither has Paul Soares Jr. You may have a glitched code. Try re-downloading the Minecraft jar.
Never mind everyone. it seems wolves no longer change the position of their tails depending on their state, which is weird because that was a helpful feature and I hope that is re-added.
They still regain health when you feed them, there's just no way of knowing it (unless you're a terrible person who hits their dogs with swords then feeds them and repeats the process to determine whether or not it restores their life).
It would help if you said which MC version you are discussing if something other than the 1.1.0 subject of this forum. I gathered 5 wolves in 1.1.0 and the angle of the dangle (of the tail) still indicates heath, and whimpering brings it to your attention.
That could be confusing if in a prerelease you can no longer tell their health and you keep feeding them until they have love in their eyes.

Are you sure the wolf is still healing? I just fed my dog 9 porkchops & 2 chicken breasts. It's horny now, but it's still whimpering like it's about to die.
It might not be just the tail that's broken in 12w03a.
And what's up with breeding dogs with meat anyway? Why not wheat like everything else?

I reckon one bite should fully restore their health.
Yes, I've tried all the meats. Including human flesh. *shudder*
SIKE! DAS DA WRONG NUMBAH!
Just tested it again.
All I'm getting is hearts.
I should also note that feeding him uses 2 of whatever meat it is.
Using just 1 has no effect whatsoever.
