Jeb recently tweeted the when vines grow on a block, they will become climbable!
Ohhh.... the possibilities this could have for maps and homes, and even exploring! What do you guys think?

Not a big deal for me. It says, "(When attached to a block)" so no going down ravines with deployable vines. :dry.gif:

I was going to give you a +1, but then I saw your signature say, "If I helped you in any way, just click that plus sign over there!" So then I didn't give you your +1.
Imagine having a dense jungle with a temple full of vines. Instead of adding ladders, you would have to climb vines. It gives the adventure map a more complete effect.

This 100x, it'll make them essentially useless to me as they're just more decorative ladders lol. Unless you can climb freehanging vines this is kinda a moot addition to me.
It satisfies both parties. Vines don't have a hitbox, and you can stand on ladders. That way, when making maps, you can texture ladders and vines as the same thing and place vines to jump at from the side, with a ladder to stand on on the very top. No more parkour raging. Well, maybe it would break parkour since vines grow.
That jungle looks really nice, I'm glad to see this (We need more f***ing tree density) and like the vine changes too. It makes sense that we cannot climb freehanging vines, especially if mobs can't, but without that feature they wont raelly serve much purpose to me.
Either way I like this change, and now I'm already waiting for the new update. :biggrin.gif:

GENERATION 28: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the
generation. Social experiment.
Yay. More hard Vechs maps including having to use blocks to get to a fleecy box still surrounded by creeper and blaze spawners.
Anyways, more on topic, this will be fun to use. I'll be using this for a secret entrance to something important. Also like he's bringing back ladder hitboxes and adding jungles. (Maybe he'll add more animal mobs soon? Hostile ones?)
No, it's stupid, because not everyone wants to use freaking vines as their ladder source in their base.. because that would look utterly stupid.
We shouldn't be forced to use ugly, un-aesthetically pleasing things just because some of you are so worked up about parkour maps. This is a survival game, not a parkour simulator. It's prime function is to be a building/survival game. Not the latter. Functionality of things in this game should cater to the former.
This was a bad move. He is caving in to the whining masses. I'm very disappointed. Total indecision and indecisiveness on his part.
Here's a better idea. Put collision boxes on vines. and use vines for your bloody parkour maps. What's that? You don't want to use vines because they'd be stupid looking? Bravo, well done! Now you know how I feel at the thought of using them in my base.
Vines would actually be more interesting for Parkour maps. It's a more natural kind of terrain/block. So you are flying around and jumping off things in a more natural terrain, rather than manufactured looking terrain. Fits more with the parkour mentality. Cities are not designed around Parkour. Parkour enthusiasts instead use that existing urban terrain as a canvas for their silly artform.

why not just have the small colision box but put in a line of code that lets you stand on top of it?

This
No! It's genus! Want hit boxs? Have ladders! Do not want? Have vines!
