Simple, downgrade it. Is this a new version of "TEH GAME IZ RUINED" threads? Oh and, its impossible. It would take 10x - 20x double the size of the current Minecraft. Calculate that. Check the memory space your .minecraft folder is taking and multiply that by 15x.
An update that gives the client the ability to connect to any server regardless of what version it's currently running, unless of course the server is more up to date than your client.
As a server admin, I'm sick and tired of how this ******** is handled. As it is now, it goes something like this:
Tiny update is released that does little more than break bukkit, wait a month until bukkit is updated, wait another month until plugins are updated for new version of bukkit, spend a day or two configuring new updated plugins, YAY we can finally play!!!, new update is released, FUUUUUUU...
It's even worse when you happen to play on multiple servers.
Seriously, how hard would it be to patch the client so that it checks what version the server is running, and simply connects using that version of the jar. It's that simple, how has this not been implemented yet?
If this annoys you so bad make your server vannila.
Just wondering... would it be possible to have Minecraft installed on a different drive (lets say a thumb drive) with a different .minecraft and version?
