Hello, im trying to make a landmine design where the mob/player would step on a pressure plate, fall, then get killed by tnt. and also i dont want the tnt to destroy the trap, so i put water under neath it.
Then i put a torch underneath the tnt to break the sand, so the sand doesnt clear the water.
But when i tested it the sand some how went past the torch and cleared the water.
I just tried it, and got the same result. The sand fell right through the torch. That is really weird...
EDIT: Oh, I get how it works now. The torch doesn't have to be on a block, it can be stuck to the side of something, it just only breaks the sand if there's a block directly under the torch.
Try using a half slab on the bottom and having water on top of it. The tnt should still be in water and the sand should break. Don't sue me if it doesn't work.

My Trap:
= water
= Pressure Plate
Trap Dimensions: 4 deep, 1 wide, 1 long.
