Actually, if you travel to the Far Lands in a Superflat map, the flatness breaks and it goes back to normal terrain generation, albeit a bit screwed up by the Far Lands thing. (If you never heard 1.9pre3 removed the Far Lands, at least all the fun parts, namely the weird-ass generation.) So technicially you could do a "Far Lands or Bust" thingy in the Superflat until you reached the normal terrain.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Random acts of petty fanboyish hatred?

I suspect, given what I've seen, that you could just keep dying and you'd reach the Farlands, too (You seem to slide in one direction more and more, I have no idea why (Edit: Testing this, it doesn't seem as obvious as it did before.)). Cool find, by the way.
i've gathered a lot of stuff using my hacked superflat(like cam94509) it's pretty fun killing those slimes but they can get a lot of annoying after a few minecraft days
I... actually created the beginnings of a let's play series on this earlier in the day. I hacked in a sapling, as well as a lava bucket and two water buckets, to make things vaguely more intresting.
Yeah - I'd hack in those as well. Wood especially is needed for pretty much everything in the game, and even maps like SkyBlock will give you wood, water, and lava. Survival may be theoretically possible in superflat, but not much fun.

When all is said and done, Will you have said more than you have done?
According to Jeb_'s Twitter, villages will still spawn in flatlands.
This makes survival much more feasible. You would have access to a (minimal and nonrenewable) supply of wood, access to an infinite supply of water, and possibly one lava block!
Is it just me, or is this whole idea turning more Sky-Block-ish by the minute? :smile.gif:

Well I'm not too sure about the accuracy of this, because he might have been referring to the actual update 1.1, not the snapshots. I guess we will have to see.
