What do you hope to see in the future as far as mobs are concerned? I'm not exactly sure on how far ai programming can go as far as java goes but I'd really love to see smarter enemies. Seeing zombies group up upon hearing one of their own hurt or skeletons dodging your arrows would really be a nice touch, or maybe even creepers hunting you down in response to hearing another creeper exploding near you from far away. I also REALLY hope dogs are improved upon. You cant even go near a high edge with a dog without the poor thing killing itself as it is now.

Now that the game is "released" there will be no rush (hopefully) for the programmers. I just hope more well-thought-out changes are to come. Aside from the terrain being a disappointment, the mobs have been pretty disappointing before 1.8. Hope for the best.
Mobs trying to avoid arrows would be a GOD-SEND @_@
Also, if their path-finder tried to find a way to actually REACH you in the shortest way possible. Even if it resulted in them idling for a short while then moving i'd love it.
Also . . .
-Spiders clinging to walls properly.
-Spiders clinging to ceilings and dropping on you.
-Zombies being able to slowly break down a wooden door.
-Creepers moving in on you as quickly as possible. No walking back for them.
-Zombies heading right for you to beat the hell out of you.
-Skeletons trying to stay a certain distance away from you.
-Slimes being able to move efficiently and faster when agitated.

Ooooh. I like all of that, except zombies breaking down a wooden door. That could cause a lot of problems on the First Night, since you might not get a bed before that.

Agree with all of this. Especially the arrows. Endermen should not be the only mob that can avoid arrows.
Spiders - Ability to shoot webs at the player's feet at a distance, then charge for them. Of course, hanging from the ceiling would be great too.
Zombies - They don't need any adjustments. If anything, they should hit harder and have more health. They're zombies, they should be the dumbest mob in the game. Easy to kite into traps, and so on. MAYBE the ability to open doors, but not destroy them.
Skeletons - The ability to leap backwards from time to time, just like hunter disengage from WoW.
Slimes - Ability to absorb (and destroy) any item on the ground. Perhaps even absorb a piece of equipment from the player.
Magma Cube - Same as slime, but they light the ground on fire as they walk, only while pursuing someone. Of course normal fire mechanics apply.
Endermen - Ability to create makeshift shelters. Maybe even craft a few weapons if left alone long enough. Definitely should be able to operate levers, buttons, or other Redstone devices, as well as doors. I'm glad they got their block stealing nerfed, but I think they should have some motor skills.
Creepers - Coordinated creeper bombings. Rather than all charging at you then killing each other after one goes off, they surround the house or wait until one creeper explodes before moving in.
Ghast - While not in camera view of anyone, Ghasts should try to sneak down and grab a player. Either drop them from a great height or take them to lava. Of course they could still be attacked.
Anything I didn't mention, I am probably happy with their current design.
Jeb stated that they would start with 'basic AI stuff', so I don't expect any high-level interaction. However, things could get very interesting around grinders once mobs realize that they cannot walk on open trapdoors or signs. Even more so if they developed reluctance to jump into running water.
I think monster AI should be number 1 priority. I hate it how zombies and creepers sometimes just stop and stare at you instead of trying to kill you (half the time they are a block below you and other times they are on the same level). It really takes the immersion out of the game when mob AI feels so broken sometimes.
That mod adds actual AI intelligence, along with mobs that WORK together to make it to their goal. Mobs that use blocks to build walkways across gaps and rivers to make it easier to go across, along with ladders to climb up steep areas like walls and cliffs.
If a simple modder team did this, I'm sure the team can do this.

I would like to see mobs that can actually hunt you down instead of wandering aimlessly though.
Since your name is "RAcaseal", I'm assuming you like one of the greatest games of all time, Phantasy Star Online?
Of course! Mr.olgaflowhuntingquest
Lol, excited for PSO2?

For the most part yes, but it is sega. I won't get my hopes up.

Spiders clinging to the ceiling would = me PARANOID 24/7, Holy crap @_@
