And i bet every person who posts about disliking will say nothing but "theyre too big" "there is too many" and "every single world i generate i spawn in the middle of one(lies)"

note: Then I mention a group of people in my posts, i mean the majority of information i have seen from that group, and my statement may not be accurate for every individual in that group.
I don't really like the oceans as they are, I get they are supposed to be big and all but with our current means of water travel and the lack of oceanic content they are boring and arduous to cross, also God forbid you spawn in one... as I see it they either need to be shrunk a little bit or we need a new, faster mode of water travel(I don't want a speed boat, just something a tad bit faster than a wooden boat, coal powered steam boat perhaps?). Regardless we need more aquatic content both, surface and underwater(doesn't need to be anything like lost cities just some interesting stuff, coral maybe, other mobs than squid, maybe oysters/pearl-clams, new blocks, etc.). They do make the world feel more realistic since I can't swim across them without feeling fatigued in game and irl(from boredom).
I like it, there is nothing better than crafting a map and a boat, then go find a new continent for its precious materials.
People that say they are bad because they are way to big are just wrong, most of them just take like 1 - 3 days, if people say they get lost, that is why you need a compass.
The only thing i agree the oceans need is more content, mushroom islands should be a bit more common.
Also, those who say the oceans are bad because nothing in minecraft should be realist, real oceans are 100 times bigger than those in minecraft.
There are more aspects of the ocean biomes that I dislike than like. The issues I have with them:
1. They are just too big relative to the sizes of the other biomes.
2. They contain too many small islands and not enough large islands.
3. They are too "ordinary". They really need an ocean biome specific mob or other feature.

Exactly this.
I'd be more pleased if the biome was maybe 2 times a big instead of 6 times as big as others.

I'm one of what appears to be a small minority in that I can honestly say I like every single biome type. I'm not kidding. Nor am I a mindless fanboy of the game.
But one thing about ocean biomes is that I foresee some eventual changes with them, such as more animals (maybe a hostile one or two), probably underwater plants, and maybe blocks of Coral, and other things. Plus, though I've never made one myself, some of the huge underwater glass bases people make are amazing.
Use that Mo'Creatures or whatever it's called for more animals. Otherwise, I like the ocean except for the fact that my character refuses to swim half the time or falls from flight and drowns constantly...
Well, the ones I usually find are 24km wide. I want ones that are 4km, enough said. 4km feels like an ocean, 24km feels like a failed terrain generator.
I bet there is a way to code oceans to have waves just like in a game like windwaker...not just some shader... it needs to know the difference between an ocean and a pond. We can only look forward to the Modding API... :smile.gif: Official content would be nice though. Oceans do feel unfinished and 18th century Diving equipment would be nice.
Perhaps even have an air-pump/piston type deal pumping air from a special 2x1 diving boat that gives you a limited amount of distance you can travel with your air hose/tether.
I wish Redstone torches emitted light when in your hand so we could use restone torches for underwater lighting by holding them in our hands.
I like them. I only wish animals would spawn on the islands.
Before oceans, i had a base on the edge of a large lake that you couldn't see the other side except on Far render. I played on Normal just so I could pretend it was actually an ocean.
Now, when I build on the edge of an ocean I *KNOW* there's not more land just out of sight. I know it's water for a long, long way. I don't know why, but that just makes my oceanside constructions all the more cool.
I too love the oceans. Just me a boat and can escape the ugly pine tree biome. Though they do need some more mobs like fish and whales maybe. said he would add them both then again he said he was going to add a lot of things that he didn't add.

2. Their too prominent.
3. It has nothing in it except the occasional island.

Needs coral reefs, mobs, and larger islands.

They don't have jellyfish.
But seriously, there really needs to be more underwater content.
Either make them smaller or add something to do in them. Otherwise it is just a waste of space.

And it doesn't give challenge at all, like some people said. Just makes the world smaller.
