Armor makes it so they will never blow you up unless you intentionally walk into a horde of them.
Iron and Diamond allow you literally hug Creepers.
They do more damage but, unless they did 50 hearts of damage in one go, they will never kill you with Diamond Armor. Nothing will.
Also to the above, yes, it was an exaggeration. It still doesn't take forever to get Iron Armor.
Ahh, this is true. I suppose it's because in the beginning I run around with leather armor which is nearly useless in comparison to iron armor! I will admit, the durability and strength of a full iron set is pretty amazing and could be nerfed a little bit. I play on hard mode and it takes a few creeper hugs to kill me off. Diamond and Gold armor should be the only ones able to last that long. So perhaps a balancing of armor would be satisfactory? I saw you mentioned it above and I think it's something all players, miners or builders, can agree upon.
One this I noticed is having iron armor means slower swimming. Maybe if it meant a decrease in walking speed it would pose more of a challenge. And it would increase the usefulness of speed potions!
I also think, that the game should work on Mining and Crafting instead of Potions and Enchantments. If you look at it, there is absolutely no point in going underground except to get enough iron and diamond for armor and tools. There needs to be reasons to mine. How about taking enchanting out and adding special ores that we can craft on our weapons to make them stronger or to get a bonus?
For instance, implement a gem like a flaming ruby, which gives our weapons the fire aspect. Would show that Mining is still an important aspect. Make stuff like fossils, which could be sold to NPC's for money, which could be used for something else.
Keep potions, but make some materials be found only in underground caves in the Nether.
Basically, make mining be a more rewarding experience that will upgrade your weapons and gear.
Which brings me to another point. Loot.
Loot is not really that great at the moment IMO. For dungeons, it's fine. They're small challenges that can be overcome easily. However, I've seen some stronghold loot, and was disappointed when I saw things like books and gold bars in the chests. I suggest that powerful, upgraded tools, weapons, and armors replace stronghold and nether fort loot.
Strongholds could also be made better by adding spawners in hard-to-see locations. You have to scout around and mine your way to see them, while holding off the mobs coming at you.
Anyways, sorry for going off topic there. I just don't know where else to post this. If I make a thread about it, I'll be called a whiner.
Most sound argument I have hear in a long time. I like a lot of the new updates- but the game is not really about mining anymore. I didn't even think about it that way. You need to kill endermen to find the final boss, you need a mere 10 obsidian to go to the nether (and you can find that on the surface) you need to kill mobs to level up (easier at the desert) You don't really even need diamond anymore in this game, save to get 3 obsidian and 1 diamond for an enchanting table. I dont want things removed from the game, I want more underground.
Here's, my opinion, More complex and Demanding armor crafting recipies, i should have to piece together SEVERAL Plates of iron before i can make a chest piece rather than the 8 placed in the shape of a vest like it is now. Mobs need a buffing yes, but i think that falls into the catagory of having a wider range of difficulty, kids play the game too. Ores like iron should be harder to find. diamonds however, i don't agree with, i think there's still more luck than method to finding diamonds because they seem to hide from me.

Honestly, why bother with Leather Armor anymore when Iron is so much easier to obtain in quantity?
And once you hit Diamond Armor, you're playing Survival Creative mode.
Yes, a balancing of armor would be satisfactory. Some percentages that make it so Armor doesn't make you nigh invulnerable but instead rewards thoughtful play by reducing damage to an extent (like 1.7.3 armor, which although semi-useless served its purpose and did not need such a huge buff).
And Gold is always weaker than Iron, irl and in Minecraft, so I have no idea why you think Gag Armor should be stronger than Iron.
One this I noticed is having iron armor means slower swimming. Maybe if it meant a decrease in walking speed it would pose more of a challenge. And it would increase the usefulness of speed potions!
lolwut?
No armor reduces anything but how much of your character skin shows.
But I would agree to something that encouraged the use of Leather Armor. Including easier ways to obtain it which don't take several Minecraft days that could have been spent digging out Iron.

Ended up with thirteen pieces of Iron which I crafted into half a suit of Iron armor.
Had any of those veins been eight big, then I would have been finished with the challenge quickly.
Personal conclusion: Fifteen Minutes to find enough Iron for a full suit of Iron may be a hyperbole (or true, depending on your luck in terrain generation) but finding enough Iron hardly takes an hour. An hour at max if it is all you're looking for and you have somewhat back luck.
So long as you don't get bad luck, I would think 30 minutes is doable.

Cool! Glad you took the challenge! I have no doubt it's POSSIBLE to get a full suit in 15 min, I just don't think it's likely. And it's certainly much more likely if you double or triple the time limit. But this challenge is about the literal 15 minute claim as a defense for a "nerf" request.
It was fun though, right? Now, did you toss yourself into lava after failing? It's the only honorable thing to do! :smile.gif:
Guys, I'm having trouble dying in Creative mode. I don't want to restrict myself by not using it, so would Jeb please make it easier to die in Creative?
If the iron armor in 1.7 is tissue paper, try taking it off when doing mundane tasks, and only wear it when you're likely to get into combat. That way you won't take fall damage to your armor. Should make it last much longer.
Also, as to the last poster who says iron was meh if you fell in lava: IRL, I don't think falling in magma would be survivable with iron armor on. I say magma because most lava in MC is underground, which technically makes it magma (I call it lava anyway, though, but...) I doubt even diamonds would get you through falling in magma.
Also, it's hard to die in creative mode isn't even a relevant argument. Of course it's hard to die in creative. This is not a thread about creative. (though I'm sure that was a sarcastic argument, but...)
Also, as far as challenge: Hard and Hardcore, from a difficulty perspective, are the same. The only non-graphical difference is that one of them deletes your world when you die.
Agree in principle, I think mobs need much better AI. Not so much higher HP and damage, but be much smarter and work together to guide the unwary player into greater danger.

Three furnaces do the same work three times as fast.
Five minutes for 24? Try two minutes for 24.
Just saying. Considering I do a lot of cooking, I do it myself.
An excellent point. :smile.gif:
The harder bit, in my opinion, is finding the iron anyway. But it'd definitely be smarter (if you found 24 iron) to do more furnaces.

Please be quiet before I have a mental breakdown and start murdering wild animals.
Making the argument that anyone who disagrees with you is stupid is a pathetic way to debate.
Leather armor durability was downright a joke
Iron was meh (Its still meh if you fall in lava)
But, yeah. Minecraft mobs aren't hard anymore. Which is why I add mo creature/siege mod/humans+
