Firstly, please note this is not a whining thread. This is an action thread, where we will actually attempt to get Mojang to listen to our requests. I'm sure many of us have remembered the days of Beta, Alpha, or even for some people such as myself, Infdev or even further beyond that time. I think we can all remember the days when armor was helpful, yet you had to use instincts to survive. The player was required to outsmart the mobs. These days, it takes fifteen minutes to get iron armor, which is almost godlike ingame now. You could stand out in the middle of the forest, throughout an entire night, AFK, and still not die (It HAS been done!) due to the Minecraft 1.0.0 nerf. Don't get me started on diamond armor, takes at most three days to obtain, and since it takes ages to lose the slightest bit of durability, you might as well go on peaceful mode, because you're practically invincible. Creeper right behind me these days? I don't even flinch. No need to, because I have diamond armor, enchanted, which I got within seven days of creating the new world, and a creeper wouldn't even hurt my armor, making the idea of a creeper hurting me or actually posing as a threat insane. Endgame armor should not take three days to obtain. Near-endgame armor should not take a mere ten-fifteen minutes to obtain. Ravines make things even easier, and because there happens to be one attatched to every damn cave, it makes even diamonds easy. From a ravine, I could get three stacks of iron, more than I'd probably ever need throughout my gameplay experience, unless I wanted to build a REALLY big minecart system. I play on Hardcore mode, and I've gone two weeks already without dying. This is coming from the guy who doesn't even pay attention to mobs anymore. Mojang needs to cater to the killers out there, not just the builders. Minecraft is a game, and it needs to be able to have a reasonable amount of difficulty.
If you are signing this, you agree that:
- Armor needs to be nerfed, heavily.
- Mobs need to be improved, and give the game some challenge.
- Ores need to be harder to find.

i agree with some aspects of this ore is way to easy to find but i will not agree that diamonds are easy to find iron coal and gold are extremely easy mobs do need to be buffed but still it takes nearly a stack of ore to make 1 set of armor so if you can find 48 or so diamonds then you are doing something i'm not.

It's actually only a bit more than a third of a stack, for near-endgame (AKA Iron) armor.

Cry a river. Punch a tree. Craft and build a wooden bridge over the river. Use your bridge to GET OVER IT.
I also think, that the game should work on Mining and Crafting instead of Potions and Enchantments. If you look at it, there is absolutely no point in going underground except to get enough iron and diamond for armor and tools. There needs to be reasons to mine. How about taking enchanting out and adding special ores that we can craft on our weapons to make them stronger or to get a bonus?
For instance, implement a gem like a flaming ruby, which gives our weapons the fire aspect. Would show that Mining is still an important aspect. Make stuff like fossils, which could be sold to NPC's for money, which could be used for something else.
Keep potions, but make some materials be found only in underground caves in the Nether.
Basically, make mining be a more rewarding experience that will upgrade your weapons and gear.
Which brings me to another point. Loot.
Loot is not really that great at the moment IMO. For dungeons, it's fine. They're small challenges that can be overcome easily. However, I've seen some stronghold loot, and was disappointed when I saw things like books and gold bars in the chests. I suggest that powerful, upgraded tools, weapons, and armors replace stronghold and nether fort loot.
Strongholds could also be made better by adding spawners in hard-to-see locations. You have to scout around and mine your way to see them, while holding off the mobs coming at you.
Anyways, sorry for going off topic there. I just don't know where else to post this. If I make a thread about it, I'll be called a whiner.
OR you could play on hardcore, if it's a challenge you want.
Hardcore is not a challenge at all. It just means that you need to be more careful when handling deep pits and mobs. Otherwise, it's the same difficulty as Hard.

I would agree with this petition if it clearly stated that it was solely a change for hard/hardcore mode, but as it is written it appears to be demanding increased difficulty of mobs, decreased strength of armor, and increased rarity of ores and ravines at no particular difficulty level.
I cannot support this petition unless it was made clear to only apply to hard and/or hardcore mode.
3 stacks of iron, from a ravine? I don't really follow. You can get one, at most. Also, a full suit of diamond armour in half an hour, what? They do need to nerf armour, but not back to pre 1.8 days where iron was like tissue paper. Although, creepers actually have increased lethality without armour. Pre 1.8, it was a surprise to get killed by a creeper, now I expect it. I also agree with toning back iron ores a little bit, since I've got 46 iron blocks on my 1.8 world.

Easy would go back to 1.7 easy.
Normal would go back to 1.7 normal.
Hard would go perhaps a tad harder than 1.7 hard, but not by too much.
Hence, "remove the nerf"

2. It would be cool if monsters had better A.I., but it's not a dire need. More monsters would be nice too.
3. I think iron is fine the way it is, it just seems too common because there are too many caves, same with all ore. If caves are toned down, then this problem is fixed.
4. It's not just ravines, caves and mineshafts also need to be toned down.

If that is the real intent of your petition, then you need to say that in the petition, rather than filling it with blatant exaggerations that 99% of Minecrafters wouldn't possibly believe.
I agree somewhat. Here's my take on the required changes for each point in the OP.
Armor: All armor should be halved in armor value, and blocking should double the armor value. This way the current armor values are what you get while blocking, but without blocking it is far less effective. Possibly even drop armor by 3x and make blocking increase by 3x, because armor is so OP right now.
Mobs:
Creepers are fine, but you should not be able to block to reduce their damage
Zombies/Skeletons/Z.Pigmen/Spiders are fine (if armor is nerfed)
Slimes: I don't care if they stay weak, because they are hard to find and have required drops
Ghasts: Should do way more damage. You should live in fear if there is a ghast in the air. Play cautiously and take it out with a bow or stay away from the projectiles and your fine, but **** up and get hit and it should be devastating. (It was good during the bugged explisive damage of pre release)
Ores:
Diamond/Iron/Gold/Redstone are fine as they are
Lapis, needs to be either less common or drop less items (now that we have breeding). This makes lapis blocks more valuable but does not impact on dyes. (I vote less common same droprate).
Coal needs to be reduced a LOT, back to what it was like in alpha. (Because we have charcoal now to compensate).
Landscape:
Mines are at a good level of rarity now
Ravines should be about half as common as they are now.
Nether fortress are fine in quantity, but there should be some way to locate them (possibly involving a drop from the Nether slimes since they are currently the only Nether creature with no real purpose).
Armor is a lot better than it used to be. It takes quite a bit to take someone with full diam armor down however if they run below full hunger, etc. They will start to die easily. It really is not hard to take down someone with the armor. Make yourself efficienct XP grinders which take a good hour or so and grind levels for hours. If you don't want to put that much time into competing with someone else than go back to survival, or any Non-pvp environment. The pvp in minecraft is at least a little fun now, however still completely dumb without mcmmo or SOME type of plugin. It is bland as ****, same as the potions. A little bit of lag and you can throw splash instant harms all day and miss everytime. Hackers are able to utilize a lot of functions that bukkit and nocheat Have to try to keep up with patch-wise. I honestly think an internal anti-hack feature, modding support, and fixing the crashing and bugs everyone gets as well as even MORE performance optimization, are all MORE IMPORTANT.
So when everyone feels like giving them some time to work on **** that will add a lot of real balance to the game, so you aren't being critical'ed everytime and thrown around by some dude with iron stuff, etc. When all of the important stuff finishes please continue ranting about how hard 1.0 is for you to cope with. Most of us will be playing the game. Oh, I almost forgot, they also need to add a monthly subscription fee as well. There we go, that balances the online play too right? I mean seeing as how I donate to every server I spend more than a week on and most other people don't, yet they have all day everyday to play the game and spam levels. I don't think any of that is balanced. Then, if the server owners run into money trouble ever, and it goes down, I'm the only one who supported it, while everyone else took a free ride right?
Would you disagree with having to support servers with a fee to play on them? Or is real life balance not as important as silly game crap? K, cool.
My only demands are more rarity and variety in structures and generations like the ravines, as stated by OP, and more complexity in monster AI. It bothers me that the monsters are so predictable all the time because they follow certain procedures every single time (skeletons for instance; they ALWAYS move to the right and circle the player). This is what I'm hoping that the new AI guy gets to at Mojang. I would like to see more of a challenge in the mechanics of the game rather than restricting rewards from the player.
