I have noticed how annoying and pointless animal breeding is. I liked it better when animals spawned and you didn't have to worry about killing animals. I liked in beta where you could just walk around and not worry about animals not respawning. It takes a big aspect out of the game. In my opinion, this needs to be fixed before biomes. It is annoying and it takes a big thing out of the game. I think we can all agree with this. I like a lot of things they added in 1.0 just not the animal breeding.

That aspect being.. waiting for animals to spontaneously appear? Whereas now, we actually have to herd and feed them? What exactly was taken out of the game here?
It sounds like your saying you cant walk around and explore because of animal breeding. As long as your exploring areas you have yet to explore you should have no problem getting an ample supply of food.
...Are you kidding me? Look. There is a hunger bar. Three of the four (five if you include Squid) overworld mobs carry food for you to harvest. They spawn first at a pretty good rate. If they respawned, there would be no point to the hunger bar.
Ok first, how is breeding animals bad? i mean like everyone is saying, in my opinion, i think Mojang is trying to make minecraft as realistic as possible with having that fell of magic and stuff like that. but id rather have breeding more on the realistic side, than them just randomly spawning, because it makes more sense.
Sorry, The name of your thread is incorrect, let me help you.
The correct name for this thread should be " Im too lazy to farm wheat "
Sorry but every piece of your " argument " ( if we can call that an argument ) is completely invalid.
You miss how it worked on beta?
*waits until night*
* puts torch on the ground *
OMG IS A MIRACLE , PIGS EVERYWHERE!.
Is that balanced?
Also, animals are not the only way of getting food, we can farm melons and wheat, and with some saplings you can get some apples ( in a future update, but already in the snapshots ).
I dont see the problem
Are you too lazy to fence some animals?
Eat some bread with the wheat.
Dont want to eat wheat?
Go punch some trees to get apples
Dont want to punch trees?
Well, that is your problem.
Edit :
I still have a world when i played from 1.5 to 1.7.3, you know how many porkchops i have? , Probably 300 because i have like 5 chests full of cooked porkchops, yes, THAT IS REALLY UNBALANCED if you ask me.
The new system limits your food, which balance the game a lot, now we dont have 99999 porkchops, unless we find enough cows to make a Mc Donalds.

I get what you guys are saying about making it realistic, making the hunger bar useful, but Now you have to be so delicate with animals. If you accidently kill to many, there goes the population. I get why some people like the realism and the adding of difficulty to it, but it seems like you have to be too careful and it causes major inconvience when you release the animals. It is inconvinient because the animals all stay in one location. And then this can cause the animal population to be too high in one area and in another area there could be no animals. I think that there should be an option in the pause menu that can turn animal breeding off or on. However it is all in the hands in Mojang and I think that a button to turn it off or on will be a great solution. :biggrin.gif:

Wrong, I am not lazy I just think it is stupid how animals do not respawn. Not everyone has 300 porkchops like you. I still do animal breeding because I am forced to do this. I do not like this. It has nothing to do with laziness. It is simple as this: I think it is stupid how animals don't respawn and we have to breed them now.

Well, it is also stupid how animals would appear from nowhere when you put a torch in the ground, Before 1.8 Torches worked as spawners, now tell me that is not unbalanced and stupid.
And as far as i know animals will respawn eventually, but im not completely sure, and even if i wasnt correct you can always generate new terrain to get other animals.
Also, breeding adds more to the sandbox aspect of the game ( 99 % of it ), because it gives us control now not only on the terrain, but on the animals and what we want to breed to get the food we want and need at that moment.
Also, in the poll, the only one who voted " No " was you right?, am i the only one that finds that extremely funny?

Well I think animals should still respawn. Maybe Mojang could of just taken out the spawning when a torch was placed. I think animal breeding should be optional. I enjoyed the days when I din't have to worry about killing to many animals for food. Everyone is freaking out about the biome when I think animal breeding is more of a problem. I am not saying you are wrong. It is just your opinion and I respect it. I'm not going to freak out and quit minecraft over one thing. And yes I am the only person that voted for No. I thought there would be more. :biggrin.gif:

That's only annoying if someone posts like that. Titles are supposed to be capitalized as such, barring words like 'of' and 'the'.
On-topic: Animal breeding is fine as is, it's hardly annoying to give wheat to two animals and wait for a few in-game days.
I was talking more about the subtitle, which is indeed a full sentence with every word capitalized.
Actually addressing the topic... like stated above, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Remember kids, when the mod crashes delete system32!

Dude it's a title. Does it really matter.

that was sarcasm by the way.
Animal breeding is great. One of my favorite updates. It's so useful.
