The problem is that you're ALWAYS going to have players who claim the game is too hard. You can't cater to them exclusively, that's why games have different difficulty levels to custom tailor the experience to the skill level of the player. We don't really get that here, though. The changes seem to only cater to the really low level players, not offering ANY options for the high level players. You shouldn't have to mod a game for the "hard" mode to be hard.
I have to mod a game just to make it play how it should?
Yes, because your definition of 'should' is different than mine, which is different from hers, and his and every other person here.
Mods are the future of MC and the way you will get the game that YOU want. The API is the most important thing they can be working on currently as it is the one thing that is capable of making the game into what you and everyone else wants it to be despite your differences.

All of that would be super cool. BUT not until the game is back to being as balanced as possible.
Honestly. Just tell me, when you are playing in your singleplayer legit world. Do mobs even bother you any more? Cause honestly, they don't bother me. When they used to make me go "oh crap! a (random mob)!"
I have to agree - the game is too easy with super durable armor.
To be honest, i think the enchanters are FAR too powerful.
Easy should be for those who are casual gamers. That should be how the game currently is on hard. Max Armor damage reduction (DR) 80% (That is the current max)
Normal should be how the game was back in alpha. Max Armor DR something like 60%
Hard should be even harder, obviously. Max Armor DR like 40%
Just pulled that out of the air, so it's not set in stone. But you see my point. Something like that

No mobs dont bother me any more, but thats because I have lit up every inch of terrain around me. I like playing minecraft for the creative aspect, because thats what the game is, if you want groundbreaking combat like Kusandaa said, play a different game. And dont tell me to go to creative mode, there is nothing to accomplish there.
Also current hard mode should NOT be easy mode. I play normal mode and would be thoroughly pissed off if it got any harder

Your joking right? Because current hard mode is a walk in the park man.
But also, if you want to build but survive... Just play easy? Like I said, easy is for casual gamers, but I should add that it's good if you want to build more and survive.
But honestly the current Hard setting is...just... Like Peaceful to me. Even with a stone sword, and leather armor. I mean, there is NOTHING hard about it.
I kinda agree, when I first got the game at 1.7 I had to go to bed at night time or else I would get totally destroyed. Now, all I need is a stone sword and I'll fend pretty well.
Again, more evidence

"must; ought (used to indicate duty, propriety, or expediency): You should not do that." I suppose different dictionaries are slightly different but they're all similar.
But seriously, I kind of agree except hunger makes the game much harder and in 1.0 hardcore was added. Hunger is great at killing you in hardcore mode and both of them were added in the last two updates.
What?

I have no problems with playing easy, but you wanted to make easy harder than normal is now, which would annoy me.
And its not a walk in the park when you dont have a sword or any armor on you. And before you tell me to just carry them with me, it takes away inventory space and uses up resources.

Armor doesn't take up inv space dude. It goes in the armor slows. And a sword is ONE space in your inventory.
I think I am seeing what we need here.

I fail to understand how a slight change in armor completely destroys the game for you. Honestly, it sounds as if Minecraft is your whole life, and you don't want any sort of change. The armor reduction was changed, only to make it last longer, to keep PvP more interesting, and to make diamond armor a whole lot more valuable than iron. If you find it gamebreaking, just find some mods that deal with it. Your idea for the structure of the game is ridiculous, and I suggest that learn to be a bit more constructive.
I like playing minecraft for the creative aspect, because thats what the game is
If you don't want to fight the mobs, that's what peaceful is for. The combat is simple, but it is still a major component of the game. Changing difficulty settings only changes aspects pertaining to health management and combat. Nothing else gets harder, so it is a legitimate concern if the combat aspects are too easy on the higher difficulty levels since that's the whole point of kicking up the difficulty level.

Thank you so much. That's a much clearer and simpler version of my issue. Perhaps...to please everyone at the same time, we should add a Very Hard Difficulty? The armor still needs to be balanced better. But this way the players who like how it is now, are happy. And me and the others will play Very Hard and be happy.
I think I am seeing the solution

Judging by your join date, you've been playing for over a year, if not longer. I assume you've pretty much done everything possible in the game. If you want, there are plenty of mods as others have said, but if you don't want those, try an adventure map, or a different play style. Be creative with it, but I'm feeling that the move with the armor was well worth it. Diamonds are harder to find now anyway, so the new armor system makes the work worth it. It also makes PvP last longer, and not just "click, click, click" with a wooden sword.
I didn't know people actually played minecraft for the groundbreaking combat, but perhaps armor is a little too strong.
This pretty much what I wanted to say.
Armour could be tweaked down a tiny bit in damage reduction.
Other than that who plays on survival mode solely for fighting blocky monsters? That is why I never saw the combat changes as a game destroying issue. The core mechanics of minecraft were still there, AKA the ability to gather resources, progression of materials absolute creativity in construction and the exploration aspects. Having monsters act as obstacles to these goals is a nice side to everything.

When no one was looking, the Endermen took forty blocks.
They took 40 blocks. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s horrible.
I have to mod a game just to make it play how it should?
Yes, you do. That is how it has always been with Minecraft, and that is the way it will be in the foreseeable future. You will just have to deal with it like everyone else who has complaints about the aspects of gameplay in Minecraft.
When Mojang added enchantments, the weapons were nerfed so that it took more hits to kill mobs, and people on these forums were screaming that creepers were now unkillable, it took too many arrows to kill some mobs, etc. and that Mojang should un-nerf the weapons so that killing hostile mobs was easier. Go ahead and google for "minecraft nerfed weapon enchantment" if you doubt that.
So long as it is easier for the few people wanting more challenge to use mods, Mojang is not going to make Minecraft harder for the masses.
1. If it were made more difficult, then there would be constant threads about it being too hard.
2. There are almost certainly mods which will add more challenge to the game.
3. Jeb can do the most good by focusing on the localization, mod API, and serious game-breaking bugs first.
Make hard and hardcore difficult. If you have a problem with the difficulty play on an easier difficuly. It's really quite simple. The issue here is that gamers who enjoy a challenge have nowhere to turn right now; every difficutly is a cakewalk.
Stop whining and make the game more difficult for YOURSELF.
Do you realize how senseless your reasoning is? I shouldn't need to take off my clothes, tie my left hand to my right leg and install 16 mods to make the HARDEST DIFFICULTY ACTUALLY HARD. I haven't seen a lick of complaints that HARD mode is TOO DIFFICULT since 1.0 hit, yet I've seen several threads now concerning how easy it is.
I want to be able to gather as much armor, enchants, weapons and potions as I can to maximize my CHANCE of survival. Right now, I get full iron and thats it, progression complete. I won't die ever again. Sure, I can take off my armor, but now I have close to no reason to mine, aside from tools, and half as much reason to get levels for enchanting. Skimping on game mechanics to make the game harder, in a game as simple as minecraft, is plain stupid.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind seeing a better balanced game but I don't want that to take priority over the API as I think that's where the real fun and challenges are to be had. There are just so many interesting ways you could ramp up the difficulty and I think modding is the best way to make all of those available.
Sure you could change the damage reduction from armor, but what if you made all of the mobs move as fast as a spider? How about doubling the spawn rate in darkness? Raising the light level under which monsters can spawn? Make it so that zombies can knock down wooden doors? Give skeletons poison arrows? I think you get the idea.
That said, making the hardest game mode drop your damage reduction from armor by 50% would not make me unhappy. I just don't want to see much real effort put into it as game balance is a black hole when it comes to developer time sinks.

Honestly. The game is broken, lost it's spark, it's challenge, and you are fine with that?
I don't know what to think of some of you people in these forums. It's like you like unbalanced easy, fast games.
And a lot of players I meet online, are the complete opposite from you guys. They also hate the lack of challenge to the game.
I don't even know what to say. Honestly. I have to mod a game just to make it play how it should?

Yes but it uses up resources, like I said. How am I supposed to use ore blocks for decoration if I'm using it to make weapons/armor.

We're talking about the highest difficulties, here. Hardcore feels like very easy to me. I've yet to die on hardcore in 1.0.
Little kids can play on easy if they want. That's absolutely no reason to take away hard mode from those of us who don't like things handed to us.
