Personally, I say the End is lacking and needs something to reward the player for conquering a giant dragon and escaping alive, something you can't find in the overworld (Not EXP or Obsidian or Enderpearls). Something unique to the End that isn't yellow cobblestone.
Can I ask why it should be left as a boss room? :wink.gif:
Everything has its place and purpose. The end is just a boss room, why do we have to copy and paste ideas from other places and put them in there. Not even the nether has its own ore. I think they should make the skyworld to put new ores etc. in. I just don't think the end should change besides making the dragon difficult.

Could they not make it a boss room with a reward in the middle of the island, though? Doesn't have to be new ore per se. It could be something completely different.
I feel that there needs to be a better reward for an hour of grinding than a useless egg and 10 minutes of text. The fight itself needs to be more exciting and less of a grind, too. The XP reward is nice, but lots of it falls into the portal. And anyways, with the stupidly random enchantment system it's not likely you'll get a whole lot of useful stuff out of it.

The egg is obviously going to be updated to do something, perhaps a mini-dragon of your own, like the snow goone's, that fight with you. The egg atm is nothing but eye-candy.
I do agree, I just re-did a world, from start to finish in 1.0 to keep me not so bored, and it was lame, not worth it. The fight is extremely lame, you sit in the middle waiting for him to to hit you, and of course, once you do, he flies off, rinse and repeat. If you wear a pumpkin its no trouble at all, really pointless ;(
I counted my supplies:
Armor: none
Arrows: 34
Sword: (Diamond) lost ~15% of use
Potions: 4 strength II
Thats it... I made like 20 strength potions and 10 stacks of arrows, for nothing. Meh. Needs a buff! And the egg needs a purpose!
I say that it should be able to be converted into my own personal pocket dimension, with teleporters to the Nether and normal world that I could set up.

I use the FTB modpack, because it's fun, and extremely convenient.
Think about this, in normal games at the boss room you have big reward for the times you have tried killing him, so why not a little more reward than XP?

every boss room I have entered only ever had a couple of breakable pots and possibly a chest or heart piece at the end of a battle, in fact, most games I play have more than one boss, so why argue about the reward, did you not feel justified that you killed a DRAGON?
people are forgetting about the journey not the end destination.

I know that personally I like the way the end is set up now. The blankness along with the static background makes it feel empty, like it should. It's not the overworld, it's a cold desolate dimension. Perhaps some reward for killing the enderdragon could be added besides the egg and xp, but preferably something that is small and doesn't detract from the feel of the whole place.
The ender dragon needs better AI (not trying to avoid you so much, + it should spit fireballs) and there should be a second MOB in the end who attacks on sight, like maybe an ender wolf or something like that, a creature with 4 to 8 legs and all black skin and purple eyes :tongue.gif:
