What do you think of the credits/ story after beating the dragon? Awesome? Lame? You tell me.
NOTE: I'm talking of the long story AFTER you beat the dragon, not the fight itself or returning to the overworld.
-------
Edit: Please don't say "It's optional" or "It's not the end" or "I don't care". We're discussing the text there; not it's existance.
To be honest, most people use fly to defeat the dragon, they use creative mode, they spawn "The end" portal, and just cheat. I just say there shouldn't be a dragon boss at all, Period.
In my mind, the ending is just a simple joke. The question is not "Why" the ending is in minecraft, but "Why not" to add one? And still, it does not stop anyone from taking adventures further or building.
It's not a joke. It's Notch (he didn't write it, but hired the writer) trying to be deep and failing miserably.
Look its Notch's game so he can what he wants with it.
And Jeb makes it better hehe
That's the worst excuse ever. Please guys, try to think of an argument.
If you disliked a movie and I said "It's the director's movie, shut up" would you like it? We as costumers have the right to complain, it leads to progress.
Though Jeb is doing a much better development, you're right on that.
Honestly, I thought it was rather touching. Notch showed how much he cares for the players. The basic message kinda got to me. We shaped our minecraft worlds. We gave them life and modified them the way we wanted to. We can do the same with our own lives. We can change our lives and give ourselves life. We have the power to change this world. If you thought it was creepy and it made you paranoid, you might want to talk to a psychologist or therapist. XD
Felt that even with all that you have to do it was very repetitive at times and the ending was a little anti-climactic. I hope whatever happens with the Ender Egg will be worth it.
I have played Minecraft since Indev and I have watched Minecraft go from a nice sandbox game to a carried away too detailed game. 1.8 COMPLETELY took away the feeling of Minecraft. With the biome colours and since then I NEVER make a house anywhere but a desert. And Now they add the game to actually end like a stratagy game and this has just annoyed me. It is no longer Minecraft, It has turned to be a sort of Fighting game, its happened in alot of games, You get a popular game, the creater gets soo carried away. And when they have added this ending with the Enderdragon It has just Annoyed me. The ending makes NO SENSE. and Is FAR TOO LONG. Then as for the Swamps in 1.0, CRAP! The colour is horrorble and the water ruins it all
Yeah, Notch didn't care for his own game anymore... but check the snapshots, Jeb is fixing his mistakes :smile.gif:
I like the end :biggrin.gif: it was epic to kill the dragon, but i must say the credits was a little boring, so i took ma iPhone and played Temple Run :biggrin.gif: After the credits ive just got a new plan to make something cool...
So epic made :biggrin.gif:
i know why made the end! its about you being addicted to minecraft and you to stop playing it
Hahaha, that's one way to put it.
I don't get why so many people are saying the end text it trying to be all deep and philosophical, I didn't get that impression at all. It just struck me as a quirky abstract way to remind the player that minecraft is a game and not their life, and that they shouldn't miss out on living by focusing their whole existence on the "short dream of the game."
Seems like more than a few people on these forums could benefit from that advise.
I would have hated it if the end scroll had tried to introduce a plot or impose a history or an explanation of the world of minecraft.
The only thing I would change would be to add some of the awesome music from Minecraft - Volume Alpha that never shows up in normal gameplay.
Personally, I think the ending is brilliant, no matter what it's supposed to mean. Whether it succeeds at being philosophical or not, I still really like the 'poem'. And I like how it's customisable :wink.gif:

Indev player too.
So epic made :biggrin.gif:
So can you always be updated
I just think that it shouldn't classified as the end of the game.
And your opinion on the text is???
I dislike when people don't read the OP.
