You could just connect your cave to an ocean surface.
Use a map to find where there's an ocean, punch a whole underneath it, and you can stay in the murky, murky darkness while swimming under the sea (in a ) and kill squids for fun and profit.
Remember, it doesn't count as the surface if you stay under the sea.
squids spawn everywhere on my world... sometimes i see them trying to swim on land LOL I cant figure out how they got there, sometimes they seem to spawn with the least amount of water...
fark. thank you. My surface world is an archipelago. Little buggers probably spawn up there and not in my special little pond I build for them.
thanks for the replies guys, big help.
short of hacking in a spawner for the buggers, best shot is to make that in a desert... failing that, due to their being deserts full of water areas, maybe a plains...
First pic is the upper view, second is beneath.
The pond is a full chunk (measured from my slime room off to the right) and another 10 blocks deep.
I made this thing specifically to spawn squids.
Unless they changed, these guys used to spawn in a single block of water.
I needs my ink sacs!
What gives :dry.gif:
Us cave dwellers just don't like that big, square, bright thing :unsure.gif:
