Its an expansion of what is possible. To say that the exploration aspect isn't there is to ignore an entire face of the game. Yes, it is creative. That is not changing. But there is so much more it can be. For one, the resource system in the game is great. That alone makes it an interesting platform to build off of. Then you have aspects of the game that are based on building that turn into benefits. Building farms and ranches, for instance. You go out adventuring, and find rare blocks, which you use creatively. Its a wonderful fusion of the aspects. We have a truly huge world, full of interesting landscapes. It would be an utter shame to leave that empty and barren. it needs to be filled with interesting things. Those interesting things needs to give benefits to motivate people to find them.
These RPG elements are taking one of minecraft's weaker elements (Combat), and fleshing them out to be interesting. Instead of simply sitting around going "Boy, my house is awesome", you can now go out on adventure, fight monsters, brew potions, storm strongholds, then come home at the end of the day, and say "Boy, my house is awesome. Let me decorate it with my spoils". If you don't care for going on adventures or fighting monster or brewing potions or storming strongolds, then don't. Nothing forces you to. But it is there for those of us who want to do something with the world we have created, who want to utilize the resources we have mined and the tools we have made. The people who want to take on the nether, head on, and emerge victorious. The people who would seek out the dragon jsut to say they slayed it. Its a open-ended game. Its a sandbox. Adding more toys to the sandbox and expanding the options is not a bad thing. Sure, other games handle adventure and combat better. If skyrim doesn't blow minecraft out of the water on that front, everyone would be sorely dissapointed. But what skyrim can't offer is the fusion of the elements. When you face the minecraft world, you start with nothing. Once you have risen to the top, you can stand atop your obsidian tower, wearing your full set of enchanted diamond gear, and say "I have made this. I have accomplished this with my own two hands. I have made every advantage I have gotten. I have faced down these monsters, I have conquered it, and I stand here, king." Now, you can build a castle. You can shape the world. But soon, we will be able to conquer the world. take on every challenge it cares to throw at us, and rise victorious.
The game is not just about building. If it was, we would never have left classic. The game is expanding, filling in the gaps that have needed filling. The nether is no longer an empty, firey wastland that people mainly ignored for a lack of a point. It is now a place you can assault, killing the fearsome monsters, and emerge with unique items, which you can then turn to your benefit. Combat is no longer a simple point and click ordeal, it is expanded so you can actually engage in combat, not merely swing your sword. It could still be improved, but it is much better now than it was. The game is going in the direction it has always been meant to, the direction it needs to go.
And they do have a specific deadline for when they are doing a code freeze and spend time polishing the game before release. They are just in the final content push before that deadline.
Then stop looking at the leaked information. Just because its there doesn't mean you have to expose yourself to it.
I understand that, and try not expose myself to it. It's a little inevitable though, especially on the forums. Also, I approve of your larger paragraph. Well explained.
There's hundreds or thousands, even millions, that enjoy all of the new updates. That's how these things work. The people who hate it are the loudest, the people who like it don't say a word.
This.
I love minecraft. Its still about fearing the dark your first night. Scrambling to make shelter ect. But later you got bored of just building. Now there is the adventure aspect. Also multiple realms. And not to mention the modders OMG. The mods are insane. Aether, ect. Tons of stuff to do. But whiners will whine and stomp there feet until they get there way. If they hate it just stfu and DL the free version with nothing in it lol.
Its like you were dropped in another dimension and are trying to figure crap out. But then again people these days love instant gratification. I press start, i mash a button, get achievements, i win. Rinse repeat.
The great thing about mine craft is IT IS WHAT YOU WANT IT TO BE. Dont like the nether? Dont make a portal and go there. Dont like monsters? Put the game on peaceful. People are annoying accept this now and your life will be much smoother.
