Their new nonchalant "go where I please" behavior is exactly what I've wanted in Endermen.
NO MORE NERFIN' !
By the way if no-one knew this Enderman will now pick up.
Grass

Sand
Gravel

Brown Mushroom
Red Mushroom
TNT
Cactus
Clay
Pumpkin
Melon
Mycelium
ONLY.
In other words, they still destroy any attractive landscaping that you might have painstakingly set up.
Repairing stuff all the time makes the game less fun. I would have enjoyed fighting endermen, but it very much looks like I'll be using a mod to stop them from causing damage instead.

Couldent agree more. Has anyone ever seen videos where people build full sized maps from other games, like zelda for example? Most all of these would heavely involve dirt and sand, so our ability to be creative with monsters on is still limited. Playing on a server where we were working on such a project (until Endermen came), I promise you Endermen make it quite impossible. Seeing how block moving, limited or not, adds no creepy or challenge factor to them it seriously needs to go!
I also don't know they should teleport through walls, unless you look at one then they should.
Wait for the full release of 1.9. When their true sounds will be uploaded. I pray for pant-changing sounds. I really do.
You look at them, they stare back and emit a very angry "WTF DID YOU JUST DO!?!?!?!" breathing sound complete with a sped up heartbeat. Then when you look away, they should then emit a banshee like scream as they come after you.
I kinda wish they'd point at you as they freeze and look back at you.
Here's my idea of a perfectly creepy enderman. The player is standing outside at night, he thinks he sees some movement far off and looks toward it. The enderman freezes and closes his eyes (the white of his eyes turn black) so he's tough to see. When the player looks away the enderman unleashes a loud and horrible scream. His eyes turn a blood red and he begins to teleport. Each jump makes a loud crack, something like a whip. With each jump the enderman teleports to a random side of the player so they don't always see him coming.
Of course these louder sounds would only be present when angered. Normally the endermen would be fairly docile, appearing and disappearing with a soft sound. But when you attract his attention all hell breaks loose, the attack is loud and sudden. Sure to catch you off guard if you are not prepared for it.
If it got in my house, I'd keep him and name him Bob. I'd have to tell my guests to not look at Bob because he doesn't like it. I don't have anything that can be moved in there anyway.
EPIC! :L Make a small mueseum xD

I'm fine with this as long as notch puts in one thing.
An item , made of one enderpearl surrounded by wood that defines a 16 block radius that they cannot teleport into. Makes them scary, but keeps them from entering your house.
Actually, video games are meant to be fun. Not everyone is a hardcore COD fan.
Also, I love the new endermen, they made me scream when one randomly appeared in my farm.
Ok. Why the hell did CoD come into this? That really didn't make any sense.
And yes they are meant to be fun, but so many modern games have been missing a sense for true challenge they used to have. (I'm taking nintendo hard, if you know the reference)So it's good to see more games bring a deeper sense of challenge. Notch already said he'd rather the game to be too hard than too easy. He's already catered to the more casual players so now it's time to heighten the difficulty.

Words to live by.
when neutral:
- not teleport except to escape water
- move only sand, gravel, flowers, and mushrooms, and only sand and gravel when it is not under any block or to the side of more than two blocks.
- build circles, small squares, and small 1 block to 3 block wide towers on the ground
when hostile:
- current 'becoming hostile' behavior
- current teleportation behavior
- have 11.5 hearts
- destroy 2 hearts each hit on easy, 3 on normal, 4 on hard
- occasionally grab the weapon you have in your hand, which adds 50% of the damage of that weapon to their attack strength
- attack every 1.5 seconds by hand and attack every 1.75 seconds with a weapon
always:
- make a sound and visual effect when they teleport
- disappear (with a teleportation sound and effect) when the sun rises
- drop what they're holding on death
- be rare
No, this isn't a hate thread. Or a rage thread. Or a "Notch is ruining the game" thread. There's enough of those, all as silly as the next.
Okay, as cool as I think it is that the Enderman can teleport around more often (especially the dodging arrows part. That's awesome!), I have to say, there's one feature the Enderman has now that I don't like: His ability to teleport around at will, as a neutral mob. That by itself isn't so bad, but I had the misfortune of having one teleport inside my house in the middle of the day. I'm not even living in a large house at the moment; it's a slightly larger version of the Cozy Cottage, with a subbasement wheat farm. My living room is 8 x 10 and yet Endermen are still harassing my chickens, cows and now me! I feel so violated! :blink.gif:
Okay, I do love that Notch has made effort to make the Enderman creepy/scary like he meant to in the first place. Believe me, he has succeeded in giving me respect for the guys. (They're practically miniboss fights now if you're poorly equipped!) But holy crap... I need to be able to have a sanctuary of some kind! That's the whole point of building, no? What am I supposed to do about these things?
dont worry there neutural, if theres a ender peral handy it can weaken the enderman by holding it

so your taking almost half of its health away one damage away and pretty much nerfing enderman to the point of barely better than a zombie

Umm... yeah. The endermen are a pain in the butt. Just try your best to kill them. Nothing you can do.

Plus, an actual use for enderpearls.
Wait... THEY CAN CARRY TNT!?!?!??! *hides*
