This buff was great. I do find it a bit too much that he has 20 hearts, the most health in the game. But considering he only attacks when you look at him, it all fine. It will be more creepy when the new sounds get in D:
making minecraft scarier is really cool and im all for it i literally get shivers every tiem i see a creeper now however if you want to see a really good mod that makes minecraft a lot scarier i recommend checking out the horror mod its freaky as hell! WARNING DO NOT LET LITTLE CHILDREN WATCH THESE VIDEOS IF YOU ARE A CHILD YOU ARE SELF I RECOMMEN DTHAT YOU DO NOT WATCH THEM
When I read this my first thought was "OoooOOOh, S***. I had no idea Notch did THAT!" That sneaky Swede! Of course I have really only played 1.9 pre2 on peaceful with TMI to mess with the cauldron. I am to the point that I am most likely just going to not update until the final release, just so I have a ton of fun stuff to do on my winter break from college.
Endermen can only move certain blocks now in 1.9pre2, people. They can move grass/dirt/mycelium, along with clay, sand and gravel (for just building blocks). They can also move any plant other than trees and giant mushrooms...
And TNT. For some reason.
Their new nonchalant "go where I please" behavior is exactly what I've wanted in Endermen.
NO MORE NERFIN' !
By the way if no-one knew this Enderman will now pick up.
Grass
Dirt
Sand
Gravel
Flower

Brown Mushroom
Red Mushroom
TNT
Cactus
Clay
Pumpkin
Melon

No Monthral. They really need to have all those things. It's not like they need seperate mobs for that. They need to have 1 mob that actually scares you. Otherwise, things will keep happening if there is like, 3 different mobs, then they'll appear 3 times as frequently.
You need to be scared, then not be scared for a while so you let your guard down. Then it just pops up and makes you change your underwear.
Really. The Endermen were supposed to be scary. They aren't scary, they're a joke.
you cant just have one mob that does it all, whats the point of that? i think 1 or 2 more separate mobs with scary stuff for them would be cool such as what i previously explained
I think they should be able to pick up basic building materials like cobblestone and planks, because really it's not hard to smelt some cobble and it looks nice.

Those are some really unique mobs. The suitor is damn terrifying too.
Stoked to see this thread. I was exploring a huge cavern with a lava lake I found underneath a surface ravine that I built my base next to. My base is a smallish cobble castle with a totally secure "saferoom" with my bed, chests and crafting table. Two doors in/out, fully lit up, no other entrances that aren't fully lit and fully secure... or so I thought!!! :smile.gif:
Anyways I find a nice vein of 4 diamond next to the big lava lake and decide to play it safe. These were the first dimaonds I'd found in my world (there was a huge cave complex leading off the bottom of the ravine and I've just about gotten it all lit up now, always do that first to avoid any nasty creeper surprises while mining) so I carefully bring them back up to the bottom of the ravine, and see that it's daylight and raining. I make my way up my paths along the edge of the ravine and into my secure base.
As I approach the door to my saferoom, I see purple particles through the window. WTF??? I see the far door open and close - something was stepping on the pressure plate. A freakin' Enderman, in my saferoom, in the daytime, when it's raining? Whoa!
So of course I charge in there and give him a couple hits with my iron sword. He disappears, but there's no XP drop. Still alive, teleported away. I stuck the diamonds in one of my chests, and, possibly out of an abundance of caution, take the Ender pearl that was in there and throw it outside into the ocean in front of my base... coz maybe he was trying to get it back???

The suitors weren't scary... Some how I don't find any thing on MC to be scary. Enderman are a pain in the butt. Seriously TP in to my house while I try to sleep I'll beat you with a base ball bat and throw you out on the street! But then yeah... It's like the bed room intruder every night almost.
But no if I have to get up in the morning to beat enderman out of my house every morning I'll do it. It's not that I can't handle it. It's because I need some where I know no mob is going to suddenly pop up when my back is turned to forge a diamond sword, and then you know HAVE TO GET BLOOD ON MY SHOW SWORD! Yes your going to say "Turn it on peaceful" that.... is just.... yeah you know what it is. Or your going to say "Big deal grow a pair" Baby I'm a krogan, I got a quad. But still point is. *Busy crafting a sword and suddenly Enderman TPs in, I turn around* "Awww **** I looked at it" Get my drift? It's annoying. Make it an option not a requirement.
Edit: Yes I looked up the horrormod and searched "Scary" videos on Youtube. I can't see what is remotely disturbing with them.
What scares me the most is realizing that there's one living near my temporary base. Every now and then I turn a corner and see a cloud of rapidly fading purple sparkles- but no enderman. o-o
I don't care that they don't despawn in the sunlight now, but I wish they'd make the creepers despawn, or at least friggen lower their spawn rate. It's not that they're hard to kill or anything, they're just annoying.
Let Enderman explore the lands during the day, they're just like another humanoid life form like you and the towns folk.
Creepers however should have their spawn rate cut down by like 2/3, increase their blast radius a block or two, and have them die in the light. At least that way they'll actually be feared, and players will have to learn to use the dash attacks to defeat them.
Also, I view the Enderman as conjured up and enslaved little demons from the Nether that the large nosed villagers have spawned to do all the manual labour in the town. Some escaped, and have a hatred for the humanoids of this world and attack on sight.
So he should make a check that endermen can't teleport into places where mobs can't spawn i guess? Unless you looked at him and you're hiding in your house :tongue.gif:
Endermen teleport far to much now, you can never get to watch them any more. Now you see one now he's gone.
I really don't like what Notch has done with them, they were far better before the patch, all he needed to do was make them harder to kill and give them creepy sounds.
They cave systems arn't swiss cheese-like, and I just found a sand block in my house I didn't place. What's not to like?
I think that hostile endermen should freeze back into place when you're looking at them, so long as they are in a well-lit area. (Attempting to hit them will cause them to teleport behind you and attack.) You might be able to escape if you can back away and ditch the enderman around a corner. Things might get interesting if you had to keep an eye on many endermen at once.
Endermen should try to move out of light while neutral, extinguising torches or teleporting away if not possible.
It might be interesting (and scary) if an enderman had a small chance of teleporting and snatching you away when attacking you in poor light conditions.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
Get the logic?
Have a chest in your house. Derp. Have a water bucket in said chest. Derp.
Burn the hell outta the bastards. Herp a derp.
The solution is very easy when you think about it.
They have 20 hearts, and deal 5 hearts of damage on hard mode. I think they are strong enough.

I hate doing that. Makes me get claustrophobic.
And don't even think about holding down the spacebar...
