Mods should be installed by simply dragging a folder into the mods and texture pack tabs on the minecraft opening screen. instead of opening finder or appdata. Hopefully this is added to 1.9 or something.

Just, why? It's already easy as hell to install mods.

Apparently not to some people. If you read the READ ME, it's pretty self-explanatory, but certain mods can be complicated.
The thing is, Notch will have to make a modloader, and all of the mods would have to comply to that modloader. A lot of standardization calls for a lot of time. I wouldn't expect this until the final release, honestly.
I just wish it were possible to have multiple mods installed. A lot of them aren't compatible with each other I hope there will be some proper mod support from Mojang soon.
Notch should just make a mod folder in the "texture packs and MODS" section of the game menue so we just have to drop a file in there and turn it on ingame
