So, what do you guys think Mojang will be adding for bosses? new mobs? same mobs but larger?
Hopefully they are completely new mobs, as we have all seen larger mobs in mods, and they're not to amazing.
I swear... if the bosses are just giant current mobs... I will rage and rant like no other haha.
It would be such a let down. I mean really... SO many people have created very cool mobs and models in mods. WHY can't notch and jeb ever make something new???

we need something to fill our super deep oceans.
or a giant squid boss, that disorts the water around it so you can't see inside, has a central head, and the tentacles are surrounding it as stationary mobs. Like how it was done in CoH:
Omg, an 2block Gorilla boss would be terrifying for the strong hold. have it have a power punch that is timed and can be dodged, but will break any blocks in front of him.
Also one of the bosses should be able to temporairly "control" a player, putting that players camera in thirdperson, and making collision with other players hurt them.
For all the talk about bosses going on now I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone suggest Golem yet. Whats this game called again?
As for how the fight would work, I don't know. Maybe each body part has its own HP and it acts according to what parts it has left.
Or maybe the bosses don't have to have hp at all. Maybe the goal is to mine the floor out from under him while you avoid his attacks, making him fall into the lava pit below.
I just hope they use some creativity. There's no real interesting AI in monsters yet (though skeletons still scare the **** out of me sometimes XD ).
I'm pretty sure the bosses will be interesting, but always remember that adding new models to the game means new animations, new objects that reacts to the world in new ways, etc etc.
Most people don't mind that they're just already existing models blown up in size and given a new texture. Things don't always HAVE TO be all-new to put the point across - as long as they manage to "sell" the idea.
Just look at Diablo 2 or similar games. Tons of mobs that are just reskins of the old ones. Devilkin is pretty much the same as a Kobold. Same in a lot of MMOs, where certain armor pieces are just reskins of other ones. Nobody cares, as long as the illusion succeeds and people are having fun.
BUT: With the low number of unique mobs in Minecraft, I seriously hope they add some new models. Plus, bosses having unique models will make the boss fight way more interesting as well. "Oh crap a new mob", "Oh this is the first time I've seen this guy". etc etc

The beauty of minecraft, is that models and animations are super easy to do. I'm a total nub at modeling, and I can make a box snail, with a withdrawl animation for minecraft. Imagine what a pro can do?

My opinion is: this is a stupid idea (no offense though)
i mean same mobs but larger ones? come on, i could only imagine the size of the mobs that could find your house and kill you with 1 hit.
ex. huge creeper boss powerful than a charged creeper, then again what if it's a HUGE CHARGED CREEPER BOSS?
Huge SPIDER JOKEY, what BIG ARROWS that could kill you in one shot?
and that's a hard one.
I love the key ideas I've been reading. It sounds like old school doom! But the bosses have to drop something worthwhile. A few dimonds isn't going to cut it.
