When you create a new world under the "World Options" where you can seed it, turn off or on the new structures, and a grayed out button that says "World Type: Normal". Is this going to be like the Invdev thing where you had the sky islands and stuff?

Don't expect it until 3.0 because the generation right now is terrible enough as it is.
It would be nice if it would be used to select completely different world types. A floating world (Skylands) could be a selectable world type, for example. I'd also love to have a "endless underground" world type in which the Y and Z coordinates are exchanged so that the world has endless height/depth but is limited by bedrock towards east and west.

Cubes are good people. They don't lie, they don't steal.
I just think its going to let you select which biome you would like to start on. I'm not sure about anything, but I doubt they would have added that if it wasn't going to be put in 1.8. Since not all of 1.8 is released, maybe we will find out all we need to know on 1.9.

I don't see why he wouldn't throw in a floating islands thing... Though it probably won't receive any usage until 1.10.
Fantastic idea.
