I think I'm missing some of the fonts on my system that the forum uses. When I load a page, all the text starts out as a weird very thin font, then pops after a few seconds to a bolder font that seems to not have the correct spacing. So I'm guessing whatever fonts the forums expects to be installed are not installed on my system or are not working. And I don't mean fonts that can be customized in thread posts, but the fonts used in headers, buttons and titles that can't be changed by the user.
So, what fonts does it expect?

That's strange! I didn't think we used web fonts, and I wouldn't expect this behaviour if your system lacked fonts, your browser would fall back to your default font on page load, it wouldn't do it after the page has loaded. What browser and operating system are you using? I'll check with the front end team, they should be able to shed more light on this.
Sorry for the late reply, I was away on vacation. Browser is chrome, OS is windows 7 64 bit. I have essentially the same setup on another computer and it works fine there. The machine with the problem has had font issues in the past, for instance, system fonts like Ariel would all of a sudden be unavailable for no apparent reason, so I just guessed it was a font issue.
Actually, now that I notice, it does the same thing here, though the fonts look correct here. When I load a forum page, I get this:
Then a few seconds later, it pops to this:
Some fonts have now become bold. On this system, it looks fine, but on the other system, which I don't have access to right now, the fonts look as if the bold being used is from a font that does not have a bold style and it's "fake bolding" the font, making it look as bad as you'd might expect from trying to make a font look bold that isn't actually bold.
I see what you mean! This isn't a font problem, what happens is after you load the page Javascript is used to check which threads you've read and which you haven't, then a bold style is applied to those that you have not read (or have new unread replies). I agree that the bold can be very jarring on page load, we've made a note to look at ways to speed it up, it's what also causes the timestamps to change. Thank you for getting back to me, and sorry for the inconvenience in the mean time!
Here is a sample of the font problem on this machine, here's the spoiler button, and it's hardly readable...
Here it is from another machine:
I just realized that the bad fonts are only in Chrome, not Internet Explorer or Firefox, but I can't test on another machine as this one is the only one here with Chrome installed. But I'm pretty sure the other machine has no problem with Chrome. I will have to test that once I get on that machine.
Yep, checked on the machine here and it's fine in chrome, so it's something on that computer that's messed up. Not a problem with the site, so I guess I'll see if I can figure out what the heck the problem is.
So, what fonts does it expect?
