This is something that's bugged me for a while now, so I figure I'll suggest it now. There are more genders than simply male and female, and now you can't even select the option to leave it blank. At the risk of getting a bit too serious for a forum about a video game, I myself have recently been questioning my gender and have been wishing there was a "genderless" option. While I don't quite feel that confident that options such as "genderless", "bigender", and "third gender" will get added, I figured it was at least worth suggesting.
P.S. Does gender not even display anywhere on the profile now? Perhaps leaving it like that is the better solution. Up to the admins, I suppose.

If you're wondering how the system admins decide which gender choices they should use in the profile screen and other science facts, just repeat to yourself: It's just a forum about a game, you should really just relax. Mystery I Know People Don't Like The New Forums, But This Is Just Stretching It Theater 2014!
(Unless you're a tree or a snail, I doubt that there's going to be a third gender or bigender or genderless option added.Just use the gender you identify as. No offense, of course.)
You can leave it blank, I think. I found mine was blank (but I changed it). Perhaps if you've already selected your gender, though, you can't unselect again.
I'm not sure if you're intentionally trying to be offensive, so thankfully I have thicker skin that most. Please note that gender is mental and sex is anatomical. For instance, a transgender person is somebody who's sex is male but gender is female, or vice versa. There are also people who don't identify as either gender, identify as both major genders, and those who feel they do have a gender, but don't feel it is one of the two major ones, and thus identify as a third gender.
There are of course even more gender identities than that, so perhaps it would be better for just a third miscellaneous category to be added, as I don't exactly expect whichever admin adds it to become an expert on gender identity. I suppose I just didn't want to pick "unspecified" as I'm not trying to hide what I am. I know what I am, there's just no option for it, and the loss of that third option just pushed me enough to finally suggest this.
P.S. At the risk of people putting some weird stuff in it, I have seen a site where the gender option was a field, not a check-box, so you could type in whatever you wanted, so that's always another possibility.

Everyone has a gender, whether they're willing to acknowledge it or not (and they're certainly free not to acknowledge it if they so choose, but it's still there). An man with feminine qualities (for example) is just a man with feminine qualities, no matter how many he has (and indeed, we all have at least a few, and vice versa). There's nothing wrong with that, and it certainly doesn't disqualify him from being a man, and it definitely doesn't make him a woman. There are operations for that, of course, but failing that, he isn't one. A man can self-identify as all sorts of things—a woman, a wolf, an alien, a vampire, Napoleon, the Archangel Micheal, invisible, an orange (although that last one is probably apocryphal)—but that doesn't change what he really is. There are certain qualities about oneself that one can change on a whim (or in some cases, on a whim with some additional effort required), but there are some one can't, except in our imaginations. That's just how it is.
The only creatures with no gender or two genders are simple organisms like slugs and sea-jellies, with very few (but always species-wide) exceptions amongst more complex critters. If that's offensive to someone for some reason, so be it.

There's not much I can say to that other than to refer you right back to my post. Yet again, gender is mental, sex is anatomical. There was once a time when these terms were interchangeable, but as with many words, time and social progression has changed the meaning. Anatomically I am a male. I'm not going to argue against that and it doesn't bother me, but I lack gender identity, and as such I am genderless. Dismissal such as this is why I waited so long to make this suggestion.
